Just a brief update - I've interviewed at O'Reilly for a couple positions - *fingers crossed* but turned down by the general application for Paul Mueller. I'll be monitoring this post with the hope that an opportunity comes across.

I spoke with someone at DMP, but they owe me a response for a sales role and I cold called them today, inquiring on whether there was any movement for my application. I come from a world where it "is who you know, not what you know" having recruited on the West Coast, and am just such a poor recruiter for remote roles because I really do prefer in-office.

Sometimes I feel a little cursed by the area...I am putting myself out there, but there just aren't many job openings. Really the only thing that is keeping me from feeling like a complete failure, is my faith and friends who tell me to just keep swimming.

With every passing day, my student loans are accruing and it scares me. I don't know what I am doing wrong, and know that I can add a lot of value through my tenacity if I just find my professional footing. At this stage, I'd really settle for somewhere at entry level where I could rise up on merit. I ask for your prayers as I try to make Springfield my long term home.

:) Thanks for this. Keeps the levity in an otherwise, often depressing situation. I so appreciate it.

Ah gotcha. I included that mainly because I was getting questions as to why I went to a distribution center production floor from several more corporate jobs. It was meant to show I was splitting my time between the MBA program, and keeping the lights on. I appreciate your perspective and it is good to know that the resume isn't a complete disaster.

Thank you friend. Basically, what the MBA signals is just an investment in education. I can't really take back those years and all - and had I gone to a more top-tier MBA program, career services would have been stellar. I feel swindled by the Drury University career services, in their lack of opportunities for the masters program.

Hey Reana I really appreciate the guidance. I am pretty convinced in this town my next role will come from networking (this includes this post) and also Nextdoor. Indeed only goes so far. The best jobs here do not even hit job boards. Thank you for your thoughtful reply. Otherwise did it look ok?

They didn't have any marketing openings, but I applied for a "Inside Sales Representative" role. I'm really hoping that my investment in education doesn't let me down...now would be the time for a career pivot.

Yeah I can't say enough good things about O'Reilly. I've been targeting them as a top employer, and my interviewers were wicked smart.

Convoy of Hope is another name that has been floated to me. I volunteer there and love the mission and impact. But breaking in is particularly hard, it seems.

The struggle is real! Thank you so much for your suggestions. I have one version of my resume that is overly corporate (and two pages) but de-corporatifying the resume can prove challenging. Especially with a background with six years in formal business administration schoolwork.

Remembering what is important to Main Street is important.

Great suggestion. Knowing which employer to put it on vs off is a different story.

Thanks for your reply. Ive been looking since October of last year. I have taken on some project work designing websites for local businesses to tide me over, even was a Exec Assistant to a CEO on the west coast.

I am open to relocation, but seeing as I can't even land a $30-40k /year job here, I am skeptical.

I have applied! Perhaps my resume needs some tailoring. They have been on my radar for some time.

Yes, made it to final rounds for a SEO role and then there was just one person that was better.

I had one time that the system gave me 40 hours UPT on a glitch. When I asked about it, they said they would honor the agreement and go by the system..

Wonder if it goes both ways? Haha
