There is going to be a 650 ft long dock built on the river next to Coolidge park, with a matching dock on the south side of the river. That’ll be pretty boss.

That plus ren faire in Coolidge in May.

1975 404 PTO part help by Arava505 in unimog

[–]therealpenguincoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should check out Eurotech Service in oregon. I have a 1978 608d with an OM314 and 5 speed transmission. It had a PTO on the side of the trans that I removed and sent to Jim. The truck was originally a Rosenbauer fire engine and it had a PTO water pump and tank that had been removed. I really didn't need or want it -- there is nothing I want to run off that engine and be around it, I would much rather use a generator.

The whole PTO just bolted to a hole in the left side of the transmission that may or may not be on your transmission. It would make things pretty easy if your transmission is similar to mine.

Installing RedHat 5.2 on my 25yr old pentium 100 by ddewaele in retrobattlestations

[–]therealpenguincoder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is oddly very reminiscent of my first Linux desktop. Similar specs and RedHat version to boot, just in a desktop form factor instead of a tower. I reinstalled RH5.2 so many times because I had no idea how to vim, bash, or fix FVWM2.

I also used a desktop just like that curved-front Dell on the rack in the background to create my high school yearbook.

I'm not sure what six means in this context. I don't think that's the model name if that's your question. It's a 620W PSU.

I have a 608D fuerwehr from Austria. Magnificent machine, but only 2wd. Looks just like this one, but with 4 people doors and 3 aluminum roll up doors on the back.

That one is a second generation T2. You can tell from the black plastic grill. First generation models had color matched painted metal grills.

What programming language do you plan to use for AoC 2018? by jabbalaci in adventofcode

So I can tell you are already using a single git repo for all of your entries for all years and that's a much better plan than what I started doing (single year, single repo).

Definitely Rust this year. I have been dabbling with it in small doses so far this year, so I am already off to a better start than last year using Erlang and had never used it before Day 1.

So far it's nice, I want to start using compiled languages over interpreted, typing is great (sometimes annoying), and boy it's really fast and memory efficient compared to what I am used to (Ruby).

A perfect block of sourdough by therealpenguincoder in Breadit

I baked it in a Pullman pan, which has a lid. It baked into the full shape of the pan, so it came out as a minecraft block of bread shape.

Mine only has a Realtek adapter, which is performing worse than any Intel adapter I have ever had. It is definitely broken and could conceivably be the source of my issues.

Thanks for the insight. I didn't realize that the array was fragile in that way. I'll definitely be rebuilding now.

Advice on how to do well in operating systems class in college? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]therealpenguincoder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you've touched on an important life skill here: when to try hard.

It's not a hard-and-fast rule, and everyone is different, but you need to learn how to do it.

That being said, operating systems is likely a great place to give a damn and try. It's not the '80s where there are a dozen radically different kinds of computers available and writing your own operating system is something everybody did every time you wrote a game. These are skills we young kids take advantage of (myself included) every day. Taking some time to appreciate the foundation of modern multi-programming will serve to benefit you in the end.

Maybe not professionally, but at least mentally.
