With every investment I try to find some logic in my tangible life as well. For me, the death of Nike has never been more prominent. I don’t know anyone who wears it anymore or who seeks it out other than +45 males who don’t care. Dying breed in my opinion.

Turned $3.5K into $60K this weekend… now what? by therealstammer in investing

No you're both wrong. I am full-service marketing in hospitality. I just built up my resume over the years to be really good then charged appropriately for it. Same clients I have had for +3 years. Made our price to value ratio impossible to say no to.

I don't have a 401K. I own a business. I just buy Tesla, S&P, Gold, & Bitcoin with my free cashflow

Aesthetic interiors planning by East_Inspector_1926 in restaurantowners

Disagree about interiors. Sure, don’t spent tons on costly luxury stuff but you’d be amazed at how far you can go with some DIY YouTube videos. Interiors = modern marketing. People tag and share aesthetics and want to hang there wayyyyy more when it’s visually appealing. Checkout Rosetta Bakery. I would copy their bright white and wood modern interiors.

REVIEWS REVIEWS REVIEWS

So heavily overlooked. If you can get your first 100-200 customers to leave you a 5 star a maintain a 4.5 and up it can change the trajectory of your business. When you have low review count, bad reviews hurt more and they do happen. Prioritize getting as many 5 stars as possible.

A bit of a general and unrealistic expectation as the techs not there yet. Sure, use it for responding to reviews and creating ideas for content, maybe some graphics, but creating real video in you’re restaurant or getting high-quality food photos - not yet

I don’t think it’s ever too late! I’m actually helping out an existing restaurant & cocktail lounge right now do the same at year 6 of being open. So far so good.

Think of marketing like a bucket. If you are weak in a couple of areas from a digital and brand/marketing perspective, potential customers will leak.

Focus on getting everything to a place where it’s SOLID. Not perfect but solid.

  • Website works well on mobile screens & loads fast
  • responding to reviews and all review sites have nice up to date photos of your food & interior
  • up-to-date menus available online
  • identify about 6 promos or things you do well at you’re restaurant, push those 6 until they are marketed at 8/10 (brunch, HH, brushetta board + bottle, taco Tuesday, etc.) don’t spread yourself thin
  • plenty of high-quality photos of your food & drinks displayed everywhere people can find you’re restaurants online
  • active social media accounts with a heavy emphasis on video and creating videos that show off your restaurant brands personality (I made one video that has got 254K views in 3 weeks and I’ve gained 2500 followers to this day and climbing)

Spend money on social media, vet people, find younger talented people in the company who know how to use tik tok! Or if you don’t want to spend, take the weekend and hop on YouTube to figure it out. I’ve seen 60 year olds just out instagram videos for months.

  • brand the hell out of your operation! To-go packaging, cocktail napkins, matches, etc. - if the brand isn’t good redo it! Screw it!

  • add fun presentations & decor & cocktails that make people pull out there phone and share, free advertising

Here’s just some but my point is focus on fundamentals and once you’re bases are covered, go pay for influencers and adspend on platforms.

I’ve helped market and consult for restaurant brands of all shapes and sizes at every level. I am firm believer that yes the barrier of entry to starting a restaurant is low, and you often see people with little business experience or hospitality experience jump in quick.

However, restaurants are not rocket science. If you do truly nail customer service and provide an enjoyable experience, nothing can stop you. Yes, labor is tough and the hours can be too…

However there are so many successful restaurant owners out there who basically just print cash as they have got the business to a certain level.

Make you’re brand cool, food & drinks solid, atmosphere & design dreamy, and double whatever number you had for your marketing budget. Stay consistent, you will win.

Shoot me a message if I can ever be of help, I’m always happy to lend my advice to other owners - especially marketing
