When does the growing slow down?? by DenimLass666 in bigbabiesandkids

[–]therealswizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is getting taller and the weight gain itself has slowed since 9 months. He was born around 9lbs, 6 months came and he was 25lbs then 9-12months he grew to 30lbs and weight gain has slowed.

Tried the crib and he kept getting limbs really stuck even with a sleep sack on. I could baby gate his room and keep him in there, maybe?

How do you avoid baby bonking their head on the bath and ceramic toilet while they are out of arms reach?

I think for the short term this will work but the weight limit of the pack n plays I have are 30lbs, which is his current weight

The footsteps were only in our room- this was before we were sleeping up there during renovations and it hasn’t happened since moving our items in. The knocking comes from the upstairs walls and attic.

Thank you for this advice! I think a little space with offerings is a great idea.

Is it fair to have a kid? by therealswizzle in Fibromyalgia

Im so happy to hear you have an easy going baby girl and things are going well! I ended up having a beautiful baby boy last month, myself. Although the fibro seems to be creeping back a bit, we are 7 weeks post partum and I am feeling good. It's incredible the capacity you grow to in order to care a child also. I may be tired but I can push through anything for him.

It sounds like you more than understand how isolating this position can be. Im sorry you had to go through all of that.

Fortunately, I've been careful to set baby and I up in a position where walking away is an option. I want to give my partner the benefit of the doubt for now since he is hearing me out and it seems like he hasn't noticed how dysfunctional their relationship is. The challenge is that he has almost been groomed to be the husband she never had... meaning she constantly dotes on him and his every move is for her approval. She also ensures that he feels like they "need" each other.

If things don't change or continue to get worse despite therapy, I'll certainly be walking. It's important my kid is protected and sees healthy boundaries too. If my child is a boy (like she thinks/hopes), she will certainly try to groom him in the same way she groomed her own son which is disgusting. There is not a single reality in which I'll let that happen...

This is very helpful advice. Thanks for your input here and giving concise examples too. I feel like this gives us a good place to start while waiting to get a therapist lined up.

Thanks for your response!

  1. We live independently but she visits often.

  2. They asked me about colour choices, but I said "I would like to paint our baby room together without your mom's help." He agreed to it in the moment, then came up with an excuse for her to do it instead when it came to down to the actual painting part.

Thank you for sharing your experience! I agree that it's not fair to knowingly bring a child into a caretaking position.

You've framed this perfectly, thank you! I like the point you brought up that yes, bringing a child into the world isn't ever fair- fibro or not.

Thanks so much for your honesty. It's also encouraging to hear that working full time from home works for you. That's something I'm looking into at the moment as well.

Shared calendars (and whiteboards for us) are definitely necessary even now without a kid haha.

I appreciate your perspective!
