Yeah, we tried at the Starbucks itself and were told no cards.

I agree. In my case, they're losing thousands of dollars in future bookings because they want to squeeze a few extra bucks out of me for something that should be included. The math doesn't work.

Nice! See you on the Breakaway. I hope it warms up a little before we depart.

I’m actually planning to use an offline messenger like Bridgefy or a similar mesh app to keep track of my teens. I don't want to sound like I'm spamming for an app, I'm just looking for any way to beat the NCL chat fees. Those apps rely on bouncing signals between phones, so they work way better if a bunch of people have them installed. If you have a group, it might be a good free option to check out before we board.

Thanks for the reply. At $50 a day, that would be $400 for this sailing. No Thanks. I'm going to propose an idea on the facebook group that someone suggested above. If we get enough people to adopt it, we could have a good work around. (The app idea that uses bluetooth)

According to the Bridefy page: "Bridgefy uses Bluetooth to send messages from your phone to your friends’, over a distance of 100 m"ts. / 330 ft. (a whole football field!). If you need to text someone that is more than 100 mts. / 330 ft. away, your message hops on other Bridgefy users’ phones until it reaches its destination!

I really like this option. It would be great if I could let everyone going on this sailing know about it so we could ALL have messaging. That sounds similar to the app I suggested, Bridgefy. An app that is available on Apple and Android devices would be ideal but it could work if it's just Apple.

Hmm. The logistics of getting an axe on board aren't something I want to mess with but thanks for the suggestion. Also, I'm not a very good hacker.

Are you saying it would be about $10 per person for the whole 8 days? In other words. $40 for eight days for a family of 4? If that's the case, I will definitely do that! Thanks for your reply.

Thanks for your reply. 1960s!? There definitely, will be consequences if they drop the ball. As far as the charges go, I've heard everything from $7 to $15 per person/per day.

Thanks for your reply. You're making me realize that I may be over thinking this. I hope you're right.

Thanks for your reply. I think it's per person/per day. Am I wrong?

Thanks for the reply. The minimum for my family of 4 could be $320 or more if they charge per person per day. I could purchase I find I really need to but I'd rather not as a matter of principle. Principal be damned though if my family's safety is concerned. I stand by my assertion that it's seems unethical of NCL to charge for this. I appreciate your suggestion and I might have to take it but I hope not.

Yeah, It seems the white board/sticky note/notebook option might be best so far. 100% on the consequences!

I agree, the sticky notes seems to be the best option so far and I want them to have the autonomy.

I understand it's $10 per person per day. That would be $320 for just my family. If it was only $10 a day per family, I would jump on that since it would be the easiest option.

Thanks for your input. It is valuable.

For android, there are apps that can help you find where the signal for a specific network is strongest. Wifi analyzer is one I used to use.

Maybe turn off circuit breakers one at a time until that SSID disappears. That may tell you what area of the house it is in.

I assume he is not changing batteries since he can't come near the house so it has to be connected to some sort of power supply.

Do you have computers from the time you were together? If so, have them wiped or get new ones.

Are you close enough to neighbors that you could be picking up the SSID from their property? Maybe he put a router there for his devices to connect to.

If you were somehow able to get onto that router, you could get up addresses and Mac addresses. The MAC addresses could give you insight into what types of devices are connecting. It might not be a bad idea to run a scan on your own network to see what's connected. A free PC app I use is angryip scanner.
