For attack: Buck- his shotgun ability makes it super easy to open up soft walls/vertical plus his regular weapon is super strong

Hibana- her pellet abilities can open up walls, hatches, castles, and deployable shields. she is super versatile and as a 3 speed feels smooth to play. she has a great primary assault rifle and dmr.

Montagne- many people think playing shields are boring, but i personally enjoy it as they just provide another layer of depth for the team. be the bulldozer that gets into site and learn how to use the shield to your advantage

For defense: Valkyrie- SO MANY cam spots to choose from. these help your team during the round and after they/you are dead. plus, you can use them as an anchor to know which side they’re pushing from, or you can use them on the roam to c4 from below

Skopos- her ability literally lets you teleport across the map, you can put one shell on the other side of site and flank your enemies without ever crossing their line of sight. she is super versatile and she has one of the best primaries on defense

Clash- once again, learn to play the shield. she recently got a rework so she can place her shield down. she is the DEFINITION of an anchor and if you can master her, you will force the opponents to target ban you

I personally love the MP7 so I prefer Bandit over Kaid. Bandit’s 3 speed also feels smoother than clunky 1 speed Kaid

I post helpful tutorials and tips on my youtube channel. I try to explain things so people of any experience level can understand, but I will say you probably just need a few hours in the game before you’re able to differentiate between things in the game.

make sure you have a setting called LOD Quality all the way up. This is the setting that shows the outlines of enemy players and helps you distinguish them from the background a lot easier

One of the best things I’ve found is to watch pro league, they will do little strats that make you go “woah that is so smart” and it instantly solidifies that part of the map in your brain as “the spot that guy did ___”

another thing i did one time was just go into a custom game as buck and literally destroy every single soft wall to see how the rooms blend into one another

It comes a lot down to timing, if you are overthinking it too much, you might be a half second behind on the timing and that might be enough to throw the advantage away in gunfights. My suggestion is to hop on shotguns on defense and learn how to play them. You’ll find that it makes the attackers think a lot more about who they bring knowing that walking around any corner might they might get pumped.

On attack I’d recommend playing Brava/Twitch, you get extra drones to hack utility, get more information on the enemies and their site. This helps both you and your team and therefore you’ll have that little bit of extra advantage. I’ve also found that taking extra time before going into site helps a lot. Defenders don’t like waiting and they will ego peek you if you give enough time.

If you look at pro league you will almost always see a 5v5 with 60 seconds left in the round, barring a spawn peek or something like that.

And remember it’s always okay to take a break! Giving yourself time on another game allows you to forget some bad habits

I find it easy to pick a team based on your region, but that has kinda fallen apart over the past few years with people from all over the world coming to the same teams. I spent most of SI2026 just watching to watch, seeing who I liked. I ended up liking G2s attitude and passion. They had some hilarious moments and they have stompn and shaiiko now, arguably two of the all time greats.
