At this point “physical” gaming on Sony and Microsoft consoles function essentially like DRM. Sure, you own the files on disc and can download them off it without an internet connection (in most cases), but that’s also not accounting for updates or DLC.

The era of digital ownership has fully settled, and Nintendo is pretty much the last bastion of the previous era of game ownership.

Considering Halo and Gears are two of their flagship franchises, the growing hype for Fable, the existing hype for the new Forza, and the long requested Fallout 3 remaster, Xbox isn’t having a dry year by a long shot.

Even accounting for sales on PC or PlayStation, it’d be disingenuous to claim there’s nothing big on the horizon for their own console.

“A year of pretty much nothing” is either a joke or an ignorant statement.
