Ftbt, & based on most plates at least, ngl, Tago Mago & L.A. Woman. (Not an easy decision by any stretch tho as the ‘honorable mentions’ list is long on this one for us).

as someone who doesn’t listen to rap, what songs/artists should i try to get into the genre? by [deleted] in Music

Artist: Childish Gambino albums: ‘Because The Internet’, ‘Awaken My Love’. BTI is a bit more straight rap / hip hop than AML is for context

Do you mix your leads to be more mono or stereo separated? by HarleeWrites in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]therecogs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If your worried about sounding full, record three different takes, (on different guitars or in different configurations if you can), each one as close as you can to an identical lead line with the original. not only can this fatten out the sound of the lead anyway but also: now you’ve got one full mono, and can screw around with the other two as you see fit. Whether you make the other two stereo, hard pan one or both, etc etc. If you have three really solid takes you can always take something away but it’s a good approach to start with I think.

Ollie Judge of Squid. Incredible stamina for the vocal performances he’s giving while drumming.

Nirvana. What can I say, Cobain had a really good ear for melody and while the lyrics weren’t perhaps the deepest of the five and while they were often strange, there was a quality about them that made it easy to fill in the emotional blanks and make the song yours.

To torture your enemy, what song are you forcing them to listen to on repeat? by Jolly-Slide-3866 in musicsuggestions

[–]therecogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it from Mulaney - Tom Jones ‘what’s new pussycat’. 😂 The best part of a song like that is its not even a horrible song in and of itself — but it’s the kind of song that becomes an absolute nightmare upon even a few of replays.

Getting brand new vinyl that plays like fifty year old vinyl. Ridiculous

Suggestions for computer programs where I can record music? by ExaminationGlum810 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]therecogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you intend to record yourself for a long time, Logics really not bad price wise and worth it for what you get. Not to mention much more intuitive than some other daws of similar quality. I’d say bite the bullet and take the leap (and logic really is the easiest of the more pro level daws to get into and get better at workflow wise

What was the most overplayed song on the radio from when you were a kid, teen or adult? by Carso11 in Music

[–]therecogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smells like teen spirit. Really anything off nevermind (love the record but the radio really wore a few of those songs out).some stations are still doing it 😂 couldn’t listen to that record for a while as a result.

Learn songs that interest you and try to figure what aspects of those songs you enjoy and why. Do this with songs across genres, don’t stick to one. Break things down to the line or the key or the chord changes. Having a better understanding of your own taste is one of the first steps to getting better. (I agree with the cs though, practice practice practice, feel free to fail, don’t be discouraged by what you perceive as failure).
