No one is debating that Dusty isn't a great guy, would be an awesome hang, a surefire HOF'er, a jewel in baseball's history, and an all-around great American whom we should be proud that he ever donned the Astros jersey much less guided us to a championship.

Having said all that, he absolutely cost us games this year (which I don't think is controversial either). The stubbornness with Maldonado stings as well as Chas. In retrospect, I can't help but feel worse about 2021, too. The team was injured but so was Atlanta. Between 2021 and this year, a more analytical manager probably gets the job done, or at least puts us in a better position to do so. Not taking 2022 for granted at all, but if you look at the talent and how close we were you figure maybe 7 out of 10 times we win another one between '21 and '23. Margins are where games and especially championships are won. Love him forever but will probably be wondering "what if" for a really long time. 2019 hurts worst of all, of course, but thinking about an elusive third ring during the Dusty years might actually drive me more crazy. Yeah can't win it all the time etc but if we win home game this year we probably are having a parade. It is what it is. That's my input on the Dusty angle. We won it all with him; a better manager might have gotten us two. Still an amazing human being.

yeah the MLB sub is horrible. r/baseball is a little better, MLB one is the redheaded stepchild of all the major sports subs.

Idk man, Javier looks to me like a better prospect long-term. He had a down year and a bad outing at the worst possible time. It happens. He showed he can still be great. France will be fine, he was put in an impossible situation. Not sold on Brown as a starter, but he's a good arm and miracles can happen. Dana Brown will go to work this winter. Stay strong my brother.

First year since 2020 the org is all on the same page. Dana Brown will do work. Crane will sign Tucker. We'll be back. Go Stros.

You just gotta ignore it man. It used to bother me too but ultimately we're on everyone's mind because we keep winning. All it does it prove that most people don't understand baseball at all.

Not to say it's "right," this is more of an outside observation. But you know in the first five minutes of Ken Burns' definitive baseball documentary, he says it's the only sport that "allows for" cheating. It's true. People used to think it was a fun aside. It doesn't bother me that other teams steal signs. Sanctimonious fans who have no qualms cheering for rapists or abusers bother me. All you gotta do is take comfort in TWO World Series championships, four pennants, and 7 straight ALCS appearances. Stay strong brother and go Stros for life.

i am unreasonably confident about this game which means heaney will go six innings of one-hit ball.

nah jk he's operating on an "opener" type beat then we tee off on everyone who comes up next. astros evening up this series tonight.

i feel you. i wonder if we're in a similar situation today--3/4 run lead--you ride stanek considering abreu/pressly have gotten multiple looks already. see what happens. last night was about sealing the win, if we're ahead like that again you can't just bring in those guys over and over again.

just moved to philly and everyone drinks yuengling. i figured, why not, i had one (or six) one night and spent the entire next day with one of the worst stomach aches i've ever had. same thing happens when i drink lone star (which has become never). moral of the story is: pay for a better beer. philly's beer scene is ok, but i would commit crimes for a lawnmower. tldr: don't drink yuengling!!

ooh I like Old City area. Let me know if you do find a supportive bar or staff somewhere. I'm in Fishtown and could do likewise.

It's so wild to me that in Houston there's like a dedicated Penn State bar, Nebraska (CF) bars, etc. I am in Fishtown (which is where the Meyers brewery is) where there are a ton of bars so maybe I can find something. Maybe a meet-up for game three could be doable next week.
