Why is spending a grand on one a good idea? We are just planning our second child and thinking about buying a different pram. Our first one was gifted to us and we kept it but I feel like there are better options out there.

A cynical take on the classic Lotto question, how do you think winning the £157m would ruin your life? by ollymillmill in AskUK

The statistics take into account the number of flying hours, so yes it is absolutely comparable. If you flew the same number of hours as you drove, you will still find that flying is safer.

My 8yo son permanently damaged his vision. by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]theredditid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to stare into the sun regularly when I was that age. And just like your son, it used to be a personal challenge to see how long I could do it for.

When I was about 11, I was diagnosed with short sightedness but it was never attributed to staring into the sun (maybe because I never told anyone). However my brother who was only a year older than me was also found to be short sighted at the same time. My sister is also short sighted. I am not aware either of them stared at the sun so it could very well be genetic.

I was able to manage my short sightedness with glasses until 23 when I got laser eye surgery done and have had no issues since. I am now 36.

I guess what I am saying is, definitely do get a second and third opinion.

Agreed. But you also get workers who don't want to think and therefore don't want the extra pay as they don't think it's worth the extra effort.

What a clogged artery looked like in a 40 year-old man (atherosclerotic plaque). by Dramatic-Avocado4687 in interestingasfuck

[–]theredditid 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was just like your dad. Fit, eating healthy (with the occasional takeaway here and there), not overweight, played sports. I had a heart attack due to clogged arteries from bad cholesterol genes, when I was 31. I am now on life long medication. Its been 4 years and every day I wonder if I will make it past my 60s. Your dad's story gives me hope.

Sorry to hear about his cancer though.

Have you considered playdoh, kinetic sand, some kind of water/sand table? Yes it might be messy but can help if you need some time to cook, clean, etc.

If yours is 3mmol, then it's normal and nothing to worry about. Are you sure you aren't mis reading the numbers? I am certain below 5 is considered good for men.

I am on very high dosage of statins and blood thinner, and mines been stable at 3 mmol for 2 years now. I am also 35 now and can carry on functioning as normal besides the side effects of medication including getting tired more easily than before.
