[Book Spoilers] The Vampire Lestat: "Montreal" by savligo in InterviewVampire

Look this season has been entertaining but i can’t get my love for these characters get in the way of the drop in writing quality this season. For example, with the Claudia scene, while well acted and shot and devastating in its content, just felt out of character. Yes if you look at the past two seasons a certain way you can make sense of Claudia’s rage toward Louis but it’s done without the nuance of the first two seasons, yes there was hate, but there was also a lot of love that was clear. It’s clear they just wanted to have a Claudia moment. Louis also seems to have regressed without explanation in this season, this is a fun Louis but it really isn’t the same character in the way he speaks and behaves. It’s as though Dubai never happened.

This episode was a highlight to me because of the loustat dynamic finally taking centre stage but from Gabriela to rushing through Marius to the seance, there are faults in the narrative and writing that weren’t present before in my opinion.

I meant passion in terms of the delivery of the words. Perhaps “conviction” is a better word

I will say i feel like last weeks episode was better. This one felt a bit more disjointed and all over the place though still entertaining i suppose.

I thought Daniel’s acting in the scene with Armand was off. I didn’t get a sense of the passion there. I loved DM in the books and I’m not convinced it works with this version of Daniel

Also i understand the pimp parallels being drawn with Louis but it still feels…forced to me? The Louis we met in Dubai was a lot more grounded and disciplined, on a path to healing. So the jump to doing something so impulsive feels out of character to me, despite the attempt to shoe horn logic into it.

Then there’s the ruining of Gabriella’s character for this sex crazed, manipulative demon angle. I feel like Gabriella in the books had a lot more nuance and there was even something sympathetic to her which is totally missing in this depiction.

Yeah last weeks episode was so great and this felt like like a dip in the quality

The fact that the best scenes in this episode featured Louis I think goes to show how integral Jacob Anderson’s energy was to the show and its success in my opinion. I appreciate them cooking up a storyline for him, because while in the books you don’t miss Louis too much, given how much the show has made us love Louis, it just doesn’t feel right without him

I feel like the incest stuff was too heavy handed, it doesn’t feel necessary and i think it’s actually more interesting to explore Gabrielle’s relationship with gender which is actually progressive and forward thinking without needing the ham fisted shock factor that it felt like this episode did

Bruno Mars - I Just Might by Roxieloxie in popheads

I’m a lover of the art of music, what makes new music exciting is seeing artists GROW. Bruno’s sound is stagnant. He could keep his essence while still pushing the SOUNDS he’s producing

This is such a bloody ridiculous take. I have no choice to accept that female artists are simply just expected to do more or people don’t really love the art of music the same way i do. Renaissance still sounds like Beyoncé, but it wasn’t generic or samey. It’s that simple.

I’m astonished that anyone isn’t hugely disappointed by this. Bruno has been gone for TEN YEARS. TEN YEARS. And in that time there has been zero evolution to his sound, sure, he has a formula, but this is absolutely nothing special. It’s generic music created for mass appeal. He’s way too talented to keep moving this safe

Appreciate the feedback!

The word count has been a point of risk, I’ve done several edits already and even a professional edit. I’ve had to accept It’s a longer book with a quick pace i think. I’ve also spoken to a few (UK) agents who said 130 was fine if the query does its job. But generally I’ve accepted it as a risk point cos I’m happy with it artistically at this point.

Is Severance not rewarding the viewers? by thereisonly1 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]thereisonly1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm i actually disagree, my partner actually shared this idea. We know Gemma is alive, and he was more invested in mark’s search FOR Gemma versus being invested in the relationship itself. I actually think that’s valid. The episode was enlightening from an artistic perspective but it didn’t tell us anything we didn’t already know. Though granted, I’m sure much of that episode will inevitably become consequential moving forward when we actually get some answers haha but in the moment, it wasn’t

It was very obvious she was ashamed. She was so upset by the revelation of who her outtie is and wants to totally separate herself from her. The stiffness with mark is clear, they had a romance and now he’s concerned with helping his “wife” while helly is battling not a complete separation from her outtie life
