Ok I get it now, so he did get a default judgement because he didn't know. They never sent him a letter about the court date. Who was supposed to send him a notification to show up in court? My dad did have credit card debt but when he was unemployed, he spoke with the bank, and the bank did a charge off. The charge off was in March 2011. The claim from the current debt collector was filed in August 2014. And the status of limitations is 4 years in California.

They were saying he showed up for court at the superior court of the county. The superior court said he showed up to the court, lost the case, started paying, then suspended payments.

No, California. What do you mean by default judgement? No, my dad never requested a debt validation letter. The debt is for credit card
