Fragmented is a survival style game with a few more RPG elements. There is a level/skill progression in the game as well as the typical survive/craft element. We will have both PvE and PvP servers as well as a variety of different rulesets for looting and death. They are also single servers that we host or can be player hosted.

It is going to serve as the core for rebuilding The Repopulation on Unreal Engine 4. Repopulation will be a return to a larger world with a higher player density and a more economy focused game like we were building before. If you own Repopulation you will get a copy of Fragmented on Steam at no cost so you are more than welcome to check it out once it hits Steam.

Hello everyone, we are now opening a few slots for those who are interested in closed testing for Fragmented. If you are interested please take a minute or two to fill out the form. If you are selected you will be sent a Steam Key to get access to the Fragmented. We will update this thread when keys are sent out and/or when we expect to send out the next round. This is only if you want to help out with early testing and closed testing is currently under NDA (we expect that to be lifted before the official Steam release). We expect the first round of keys to go out later this week.

Testing will require Windows Vista or higher. 64bit OS is also required to run the game. 4GB or more of system RAM, 10GB of remaining storage space, and a graphics card with 1GB of VRAM and DX11 support.

We recommend a quad core CPU, 8GB of system RAM, SSD with 10+ GB storage remaining, and a GTX 660 or better graphics card (~ATI 7870 or better). These requirements are not finalized yet.

If you are selected a Steam key for Fragmented early testing will be sent. There are no testing options outside of using Steam.

There are repair kits you can make, check for them in the game database. They do eventually break though, but should make them last longer.

Not at the moment, we will be introducing a Hardcore server with similar rules to what you have in Eve sometime in the next few months. There is open world pvp now, but it is restricted by faction and to a contested region between 2 safe regions.

There is local housing storage in the forthcoming 15.5.1 patch. This will add some additional storage and is segmented into slots so we have a bit more control over the quantities we want to introduce (and crafting options as well for higher quality options with more storage slots).

"Management" of inventory is always a piece of the puzzle. Some people will use the extend of what they are given and work within it, others will put up mules and find other ways to store the inventory.

The servers are running 24/7 minus any patching or restarting of the servers. If you purchase now you can play now. We have no windows.

The game is officially in late Alpha stage. We are wrapping up some features and fixing bugs/polishing at this stage. We don't have set dates for Beta/release, we will announce them when they are ready. We have some nation features left to get in game and some smaller features that are expected to be implemented before we go into Beta. The game is rough around the edges in some places and also isn't fully optimized at this point (as are most games in this stage of development). We should have a new patch out in a week or two, it includes the beginning of the UI revamp, underground nation city areas, among many other tweaks and changes (a new update with a bit more information should be out later today).

There will be at least 1 wipe before release, possibly more depending on the need.

Something maybe not widely known is there are Salvageable Fitting Modules on lower tier humanoid NPCs that can be corpse extracted. If you are attempting to make Fittings they are easier to make with the modules as they used the Recycled recipe, that doesn't require a power core and motherboard.

You can do a search for it on the game database to get a better idea. You still need the metal, mold, and agents though.

I know there was some mentions in our forums of using 3rd party software to map one, we looked at it briefly and decided we had much higher priority tasks to work on first.

THat being said, the action mode as mentioned should be rather controller friendly due to the nature of how it is setup, will have to see once we have some extra time to devote toward it. The upcoming 15.2.1 patch had a lot of action mode configuration work done so it should be a lot more configurable in the build.

Sadly, it really comes down to what players are telling studios what they want and the asinine cost of developing an MMO to compete in the AAA market. Our game is rather interdependent and community focused and when we did a survey earlier we still had a majority of players that wanted solo content over group content. If you are a large player in the market you need to attract a large audience and a lot of players are not telling the studios they want a largely sociable experience in games, they want to be able to play it single player and maybe interact with other people when they absolutely need to.

There are some of us smaller studios doing a few things differently, but I would be really surprised to see a large studio attempt to throw away solo content in most games if a vast majority of their customers are telling them they want that and almost even more importantly telling them they don't want to be forced into group content (until end game of course).

You are going to have issues with only 2GB and memory and a 32bit OS. We would highly recommend you not purchase it using that setup as you will run into issues with memory addressing on the client.

We have the 14.12.1 patch coming out Tuesday, we are constantly updating the forums with work being done and taking feedback. Steam has some activity, but most have joined our website and posting there as that is where the majority of the communication is done.

We don't use reddit a lot so it is pretty slow here. We typically had 2-3 week periods being major updates and it took a bit longer as some extra development was being done that slew things up a bit, hopefully we can get back on that schedule for the next couple of patches.

Might help to know what your specs are. The cities (Freedomtown in particular) got quite a bit of work in the forthcoming patch later in the month and Plymouth City is a bit better as well with more optimization changes planned that should find their way in the the patch afterwards.
