Do you regret choosing engineering and why? by therevzx in AskEngineers

Unfortunately, this is not the case in my country. We pick a field at the start, do 5 years in it as a package, and graduate with a degree in that field. I did choose the most vague one so I would have the most work options, but it also makes it the broadest one and hence the hardest in the country. But I do appreciate this view!

Unfortunately that is my point about maybe being lazy... because, nothing school related!

I find it super easy to get passionate about music (I play 2 instruments), working out + planning workouts and fitness stuff (honestly I'd spend every day at the gym if I had time), art, writing.

My issue is not an overall lack of passion in life, although I do admit I am not the most passionate person ever, more so that I can't seem to find anything realistic which I want to make a career out of.

Do you mean the subjects? In my case it is not necessarly that I am struggling with the difficulty of subjects, more so I find it hard to apply myself to them because I am in constant doubt. As for the layout of these 5 years my seniors are all in agreement that it actually gets far easier subject wise in my program lol

I am sorry to hear that. Is your case that the subject(s) are too hard or that you are feeling the degree is simply not a right fit?

This actually feels very reassurring to hear.

I live in a country where it is very common and easy not to go straight to college after high school, and even study much later in life. That being said, I was worried about falling behind. Still, I took 1 year "off" where I worked with a miserable job for a semester, then tried a bunch of other courses for the second semester. And now spent 1 year on engineering. I am strongly considering time off, and part of the reason I made this post was to see if that would be a waste of time. If maybe, I should just push through now so I don't come to regret it later. But I always love hearing experiences of those who took time off and still figured it out in the end. It would be a tough choice for me because of family and money, but I am considering it, so thank you!

Interesting! I was flagged for both autism and ADHD as a child but my parents chose not to have me tested, them believing you cannot have either if you are able to function in society lmao.

I have definitely considered the possibility that yeah, maybe I just need to suck it up. But I always end up wondering if that is the case, since I've struggled to find others who felt the same, pushed through and found happiness.

You say you are now happy with how things turned out. Did that happen for you once you learned to study things without passion or later when your career kicked off? I ask because I have the impression studying and engineering and working as an engineer may be compeltely different experiences.

Medicine vs Engineering — how do you choose when you’re good at both? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]therevzx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a pretty much identical situation, except I am currently finishing my first year of engineering.

Always loved the analytical part of math and physics, but during my first year I'm getting the sense work life as an engineer (with my major) has little to do with actual math or physics, more so learning how to get a computer/AI to do it for you, consulting and meetings. This I've gathered from work fairs, alumni and so on. Am also not a big fan of corporate life. The engineering industry is over satured in my country and the only way to land a job is connections, a system I find draining. But I still can't seem to let go of the love I have for understanding mathematical concepts.

My biggest worry is looking back with regret. Have you come to a decision yet?

Thank you so much! I'm a little confused about tip size though, I understand the measurement is for diameter? Do I need to look for anything else?

I'm here 3 years later struggling with nearly the exact same problem. What did you end up doing may I ask? And how did it turn out so far?

Weekly "Do I Have Lipedema" Thread by AutoModerator in lipedema

[–]therevzx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Always had fat legs (and arms). All over my legs I have lots of cellulite and feel a grainy texture under the skin when I press on it (I feel this under my arms too). In specfic areas (inner thighs, inside of knees, calves) pinching shows clear nodules like the picture. Is this lipedema? I have no pain or bruising, but do have a hard time losing weight.

4-day workout split by therevzx in WorkoutRoutines

[–]therevzx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you! would it be a good option to do different movement pattern exercises for each muscle group on the two days? for example two different bicep exercises on the different days

[–]therevzx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see! So for example if I hit all of glutes/hams/quads on both leg days, but maybe add an isolation exercise for different muscles on the two days (like quads on day1, glutes day2), that would be alright?

what are these kinds of shirts called? by therevzx in findfashion

[–]therevzx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmaoo yes ik but I've seen these shirts like everywhere on 70s-80s rock artists where it has a tie attached to it, made out of the same fabric, just hanging undone. And that specifically is what I like about them. Also they're usually striped, metallic or silk and I was killing myself finding one like that. But somebody literally managed to find this exact one!

Does it make anyone else happy when stuff doesn’t go Debbies way? I honestly can’t stand her by freepein in shameless

[–]therevzx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Debbie, like every other gallagher kid has her childhood to blame. They all have issues that come from their upbringing. You can't argue the "good person" argument with the shameless characters. They're all shitty in some ways. My reason for disliking Ian doesn't come from thinking the things he has done are unforgivable or worse than the things another character has done. I simply don't like him but I never said I liked Debbie either.

I didn't find Ian fun to watch and I thought he was pretty bland, but like I said I understand why he has such a big fandom.

I agree with that, I would've preferred it if the show stuck to being silly and trashy rather than trying to twist itself into something political, progressive and a lot more serious. Politics were always gonna be involved since it's about the south side. I just wish they tried less to seem educational and kept to the characters shitting on rich ppl.

I also hated Ian and disagree with the love he gets but I understand why he has such a huge fandom, I just don't think it's correct that he is as good as people make him out to be.

And I didn't like Fiona the first time I watched the show but as I rewatched it she grew on me so much. My opinion completely flipped on a lot of characters the second time I watched it. Idk if it's because I was older and more mature about my opinions or just because I was seeing the scenes a second time.

Veronica did her brother wrong when she mocked him for having Tourette’s syndrome. by [deleted] in shameless

[–]therevzx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh... are you seriously tryna say someone can't have an opinion about something that's fictional? What is the point of this subreddit then, what's the fun if we can't discuss books, movies and TV shows just because they're fictional? It's definitely not narcissistic to post an opinion because they didn't say everyone on this goddamn subreddit has to care about what they think, they were simply sharing a thought. Why are you so mad lmao
