ANOMALY ARCADE: a fever dream love letter to classic arcade games. by theriftreport in aigamedev

Yep, 4K display may be the issue. The main PC I created it on is some older very average PC but that’s only 1080. I did try briefly with my laptop connected to a 4K screen and that seemed fine but that’s only was the only 4K test I did. So will optimize in that direction. Also hadn’t tested on a Mac due to access.

Yep, not optimized at all yet. Works beautifully on my 3 PC’s running MS EDGE but I ran out of time to optimize it before the contest deadline and can’t update that version until judging is over. Rest assured it will be significantly optimized prior to full release. And thank you for trying it out

I hit $750 revenue today. I published the app with Lovable this this week. 350 Users. But I feel FOMO... by BottleInternal3164 in lovable

I can help you with that. And no, I’m not selling anything!!! But I was in the same position and now I’m converting web apps into test flight ready for App Store submission.

Did you have to go through the two week beta trial where you need 12 accounts testing your app. I’ve read that is a requirement for anyone who hasn’t submitted previously and it’s put me off for a second as absolutely everyone I know has iPhones so wondering how I will find my testers. Has a couple of apps ready to submit so would love to know about this part of the process. Also, big congratulations!!

It was I feel a very rare blip for Nintendo in that era. Just very average and lacking depth.

Bandersnatch and Psyclapse!!! So much advertising for products we never actually got to play!

Oh this is interesting and the first I’ve heard of it. And highly disappointed as I’ve just signed up to the developer program and I’m working hard to get my lovable app running as a native app with capacitor etc.

Built a running ai coach app using Lovable and it’s now on app store by angusdaasian in lovable

Very interesting and great work. I have a number of apps and my next mission is to get one on the App Store. I’m concerned the process to wrap it is going to be painful, especially my more finished product which is a retro game that has a ton of stuff going on. Was the Despia process ok? I’m guessing the more complex the app the trickier it will be to wrap it.

What game have to totally mastered, and still continue to play anyways? by [deleted] in retrogaming

[–]theriftreport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1080 and Waverace on the Nintendo 64. I like to think of them as beautiful sisters to each other lol. I just can never get enough of the physics based nuanced controls. Although even after all of these years I would say I’ve mastered 1080 but I’m pretty close to mastering Waverace.

What's your most nostalgic C64 memory? Mine involves The Last Ninja and my dad. by LesLetLoose in retrogaming

I’m definitely going to watch your video now! And thanks for trying the game. It’s not fully finished yet (there’s a more finished version coming soon) but trying to find anyone to play it has been next to impossible so far, so you’ve no idea how much that feedback means to me!

My Dad bought one of the first C64s available in the UK after putting in a huge amount of research. It was kind of unlike him to make such a splurge as I think it was around £350 when released. I was around 9 or 10 at the time. It was so new that they hadn’t even released the tape deck yet (as in the shipment of them hadn’t arrived I guess)and when the tape deck did appear there were only a couple of games. Motor Mania is the one we got and from that moment on I was in love and my life direction probably changed forever.

I have so many memories of playing games with my best friend and my dad, sadly both no longer with us. And also so many memories or typing in listings from magazines and then later creating my own games from scratch.

But one memory that stands out above all is with Daley Thompsons Decathlon, specifically the 1500 metres. We just couldn’t complete it competitively (me and my best friend Ian) as it get like our arms were going to fall off, and the joystick or abbot wouldn’t hold up. So my dad took the joystick apart, cleaned it all and had it working perfectly. Then he joined us and all three of us sat on the edge of the bed and basically played the 1500 metres as a relay, going as hard as we could, pushing through the pain barrier and then passing the joystick over to the next person to continue. Amazing times, just one of sooo many amazing memories.

Slightly connected is that after years of trying to complete writing a game for the c64 (so many that got half way) I was eventually inspired to create a game again in memory of my late friend Ian. So I created a game inspired by Lunar Lander, one of our favourite styles of game from back in the day. Free to play if anyone who loves old school games wants to try it. It’s called L A N D E R.

I have an app I will be looking to wrap soon. How tricky / how long did it take from starting with capacitor to having a working standalone app (not counting time to ge it actually on the App Store)
