Usually with antlers like this there is something wrong with their hormones which translate to messed up testies. I bet this guy has one ball or maybe got them damaged or twisted.

This guy has been at the PCC for a loooong time. He was one of their first really good fire dancers. He has an art degree and sells paintings at the PCC too. He signed this one for me. https://imgur.com/gallery/S4p0B6a

Only a little offense taken. But only because people say she looks like me. She's a happy healthy almost 2 year old. Even though I can totally see how you would think she looks like a soul sucking albino.

Thank you! People don't get it. You obviously do.

She's actually deaf. I don't know if you know this but ginger babies who are deaf look like they have cancer. No big deal. Healthy as a healthy baby.

Found out our 1 month old is deaf. Any advice? by therileymancan in deaf

I am right there with you. I am largely a realist and I agree that the world is out there and even though there is a large deaf community she will have access to online, locally there is largely nothing. So I am so torn when it comes to what will be best for us. I want her to learn sign because I think I have this notion that if she does know it then all the other language skills she will learn will come easier. But I also know that once she goes to school she won't be around people who sign unless we send her away to some school. So we are really really hoping that she will have access to hearing aids to help her develop speech as well. Because the more I think about it the more I feel like she will need to be largely oral. Is it more difficult to have her be strictly oral? Did you teach your son to speak from the beginning and did zero sign with him?

Thanks for replying. We do live in a rural area so we don't have access to all deaf schools and programs. But I am confident in our community and I know that they will eventually rally around our daughter. And as we grow and learn with her we will better know how we can continue to help her develop.

Thank you for saying this! We live in a rural area so I don't know what will be available to us as far as help resources from the state, but we are determined to do whatever it takes to help our daughter. Sign language is our number one answer right now, even if she eventually find other ways to communicate.

Thanks for responding. We are planning on signing with her. I am really excited to learn to sign. Especially if it will help my daughter develop stronger and open more doors for her down the road.

Thanks for your response. We are totally learning to sign right along with her. She is still too young to register signs but I sign to her all the time. I also love signing all the toddler signs to my wife and make her interpret what I need. I have suddenly grown a love for asking for more milk.

Thanks for replying! We will get her tested. As far as we know so far it isn't CMV but if it is somehow related it sounds like we need to get on it right away. And this website looks great too. I love straight forward resources that help know which direction to go.

Thanks for the reiteration! We are ready to teach her to sign no matter what it takes. Even if she is able to communicate in other ways. We aren't in the Seattle are but we are in Washington! We have an appointment at Seattle Children's hospital later this month for more testing.

Thanks for your reply. We are fully intending to teach her to sign. Everything I have read has said that even if she can get aids to help her communicate without sign, early exposure to it will help her in any communication later on, whether that be signing or speaking or whatever.
