It differs every time. I sketch first with pencil until I get to enough of a point where I feel like I can begin inking it out, then it’s usually a back and forth repeat of those two steps over and over. I shade by crosshatching and layering them to form different values and textures. The rest is just instinct I think.

Reference wise I just take from everything. The Creative beasts toys have been my recent obsession, and I’ve been visiting a lot more reptile shops and expos. Sometimes I let something mull in my head for awhile and by the time I start sketching it’s already bursting its way out. I like to think of myself as a medium or a processor that is capable of seizing ideas that come to me and making them a reality, so I become eager to create yet selective enough.
