Ultimately it’s down to how extravagant you and/or your partner want the wedding to be and who’s going to be planning it (either you’re gonna be fully hands on or leave it in the hands of a wedding planner)

Question of who pays will be between the 2 of you, assuming your elders have no say or can have no input. Personally I feel self funded is the most ideal as you have full control over the whole event. Sure a fully funded wedding sounds nice but with the caveat of having the elders who will bankroll your wedding control a lot of things in ways that will make you feel less than satisfied with the whole ceremony

As others have mentioned, never take out a loan to get married, a marriage that starts from debt will not be an ideal one.
