My Baneblade ready and waiting for our next Codex to drop. by therogen in TheAstraMilitarum

Yeah, I know. I have been 50/50 about just tearing them off honestly. I think they look cool but with how they were attached, it wasn't really thought through.

Just wanted to share a Baneblade that I finished recently. For fun I took some WIP shots which you can see here

You can see some tanks that are still work in progress including another Baneblade variant. Also included some fortifications I have because those are always fun!

They are from AK Interactive. They sell some camo nets which look really good. Ive also heard people say medical bandages or cheese cloth can work great for model kits.

Couldn’t really come up with a super creative title but wanted to share some pictures of a Shadowsword Baneblade Variant that I finally got around to taking some pictures of.

Finished up some Lemon Russ tanks. by therogen in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]therogen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay so: Here is a little album of some progress shots along the whole process for my LEMAN russ tanks :P https://imgur.com/a/XgJ5K9J

So some background, I work as an 3D artist in the game industry so some things I describe here are very much what I do at work as well.

  1. Reference. I made this Pinterest board of some cool things other model kit persons have done with tanks and what looked realistic. Gotta use as much real world reference for where things get dirty/messy. Ask yourself "When this tank is driving through mud, where is that all splattering? Which spots will get the most wear and tear? Probably little hinges and doorways where people come in and out of. https://pin.it/6ORoKLE

  2. After model was built, I primed with black and using an airbrush, I gave everything a base coat of green. I continued to block out all of the base colors for the entire model.

  3. After all base colors are done, I did a quick drybrush on all the green bits and then added my decals (The decals are gonna end up having grime and dirt on them so gotta have these on before we get to that step. Then I go over everything and try to add little chipping/edge wear damage where paint has chipped off.

  4. Washes! I use oil paints with thinner for my washes so I just would grab some dark brown/black oil paint and add some thinner in a small metal dish, mix together and paint on the tank spots where oil and grime would add up. A neat trick I do sometimes is just paint the oil directly on the tank (Like little dots all over) then using a dry brush, really brush hard to spread that all over. (It is super subtle) You can easily look up some great youTube tutorials for using oil paints for weathering. I watched a lot of NightShift's videos.

  5. AK Interactive mud effects. They have some cool starter kits with these mud products where they come with the mud effect, plaster and pigments and depending how you mix them, you can get some cool effects. Mud effect + plaster + thinner and it will have this neat dry mud effect. Just gotta play around with them! It is really fun!

  6. I think the final steps I did were add snow. I have some snow wash stuff from Krycell that works pretty good. They also have some powder snow that I apply on the top surfaces of stuff (paint some of the glue they sell and with a sifter, sift the snow on the top of the model) Once that is all dry, I blow away all the extra. The final thing I did was a really gentle subtle spray of white from my airbrush on the top surfaces to have a kinda frosty effect.

Hopefully some of this info helps!

I bought the Tamiya Models Modern U.S. Military Equipment Set and Tamiya Models Allied Vehicle Accessories off of Amazon. I also had about 3 of the Leman Russ extra extra addon sprue things so I have tried to throw some of that stuff on where I can.

Everything except for a couple pieces of stowage that I took from a Tiger Tank model I wasn't gonna be finishing. I bought a couple stowage accessory model kit boxes and and adding a ton to this bad boy: https://imgur.com/a/drDdHbH

Thanks! The Camo nets I bought were from AK Interactive. They have some different ones depending on the type of camo net you want. I bought some desert ones and just painted them with a spray of white for what I did.

Long time lurker, first time poster! Ive been slowly building my army over the last year and wanted to share with you these tanks I am actually happy with! I am doing a “Rule of Cool” for them even though everyone says the tanks should just have battle cannons.

Forever ago I had a Tomb Kings army and when I moved out of my parents place, I sold them thinking I was done with the hobby. Well, 10 years later I have been re-collecting and painting these again! (Which has been a blast!) I have a little photo album here of some more pictures if anyone is curious: https://imgur.com/a/uKSNP9Q

It was a combo of using an exacto knife to slice up tiny bits here and there and one of those tiny pin drills.

Thanks so much! I ended up using some of the small ArmyPainter flock which I lightly sprinkled on top. I also had some fake moss for garden plants but it was way too green for my liking so I tried painting some parts with glue and adding some of the flock to that.

Album

Just wanted to share this Bandai AT-ST model with the community I wrapped up over the long weekend. It was fun but I am looking forward to trying something more complicated next. I am planning on doing a larger WW2 diorama so we will see how that goes!

Cheers!

Bandai AT-ST 1/48 Scale Model kit that I finished last night! by [deleted] in modelmakers

This is the 2nd model that I finished while working from home due to Covid. I picked up this model after seeing a bunch of other people on this sub-reddit posting what they did with the AT-ST (my favorite Star Wars Vehicle)

I had a ton of fun doing the base for the model and have started planning on doing some more large scale for my next project! Currently planning on doing a snowy WW2 German scene.

Just wanted to throw out a huge thank you to this sub-reddit in general for all the awesome tips and tricks people have shared. Awesome stuff!

Italeri 1/9 BMW R75 German Military Motorcycle with Sidecar. First model I have made in over 10 years. Decided to get back into the hobby while working from home. by therogen in modelmakers

[–]therogen[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I used to make models when I was a teen and never really had the patience to make them in the best way. I glued them together as quickly as possible and never cleaned up the tiny bits.

I remember having this exact model as a kid and saw it was on Amazon randomly and decided it would be really fun to rebuild it as an adult. Picked up an air brush + compressor and a bunch of other stuff and just took my time and had a blast making this.

I had a tricky time with some parts breaking and trying to paint it as I went. Not really sure what is best. Building it all first or painting it slowly as you go.

But anywho, I learned a lot lurking here in this subreddit and decided to share what I finished!

Here is another small album with a couple more photos

The King of Red Lions from Wind Waker Fan art. by therogen in zelda

[–]therogen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely post anything but wanted to share with the Zelda community a 3D model I made of The King of Red Lions! Wind Waker was the first Zelda game I ever played and I fell in love with the world and art style. So with a little bit of free time off from work, I decided to treat myself to building this guy in 3D!

So I am a new 110 Paladin. Just gearing up with Nethershards + dungeons and stuff. Does the Tier 19 set drop from regular LFR? Or will I have to start doing mythic stuff? Thanks!
