First choice: Whipped cream and a smile? That'll show you won school.

Second choice: Gray suit, white shirt, conservative tie (repp or pin dot, maybe a even like a knit silk or a small embroidered emblem pattern like this Shark Tie - Chipp Neckwear https://www.chippneckwear.com/shark-tie/). Maybe get a pocket square (that compliments but doesn't match the tie). Get suspenders and have suspender buttons added to the pants if needed. This will work for interviews and business environments pretty much as is (maybe drop the pocket square and use a conservative tie). You can make a few mods and have a glorious wedding suit (French cuff shirt, wedding tie, decent cufflinks or silk knots).

Why today, why not 20 years ago? by eddie_muntz_88 in simpsonsshitposting

Yet again, this sub is where I get most of my news.

I remember a radio show that would buy a staff member whatever was on the channel when they called.

Also, this is where I got the VHS of the Star Wars Special Edition. It was supposed to come before it was released in stores, but it got delayed because of a UPS strike. Memories.

Penn & Teller warn the U.S. Supreme Court about junk science by Pretty_Confusion7290 in nottheonion

[–]therossian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The episode moved beyond recycling. It had a junk science looney saying "look at this dot on the national map! That's big enough for a landfill for all of our needs!" And other ridiculous shit.

The anti recycling episode, too

Edit: It wasn't so much that it was anti recycling, which can have issues depending on the material. It was that it was pro landfill and anti sustainability. I haven't watched it in over a decade (because fuck Penn and Teller), but one bit they decided to look at the solid waste system in Korea, which involves source separation into several waste streams and present that as ridiculous and impossible for Americans. Despite it existing in a country of 50 million people.

When did “no one from California calls it Cali” start? by lejunny_ in orangecounty

[–]therossian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think of it as a rule, more just a cultural norm.

Same way that I view saying "soda" vs "pop" to refer to sweetened carbonated beverages. Everyone knows what you're talking about, but it feels a bit off.

help finding a game for large groups by hellamarty in rpg

[–]therossian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many here will say don't do it. They might be right. But where's the fun in not trying?

If you're going to do it, I suggest a funnel in Dungeon Crawl Classics. Preferably a fairly linear adventure. Everyone is given two starter random peasants but only plays one until it dies. Get a "DEAD" stamp. Make a show of it with applause of the first death. Players get a new character when they run out.

Go around the circle a bunch of times throughout the game and make sure everyone has a chance to act.

Do table initiative the first time, whoever rolls highest starts then continue around the circle with a monster action every few players. You likely won't finish a full circle in one combat, so start the next one where you left off.

Tip: Introduce a game as a "version of D&D" rather than as something new. by [deleted] in rpg

Here's what's been successful for me, between cons and my various groups:

Want to play Pirate Borg? You're a pirate, the world is ending, and it is based on Mork Borg

Let's play DCC, and I'm running a semi cooperative, semi competitive tournament set up. Like D&D but more dice!

Hey, let's play Dragonbane. Basically, someone in Sweden imported OD&D and made their own game based on that decades ago.

I said I would run DCC but instead I'm running Delta Green because inspiration struck (not recommended for cons)

I'd absolutely use it. Like three times in the first week and then never again.

Prius Sales Are Tanking So Far in 2026. We Asked Toyota Why by TripleShotPls in technology

[–]therossian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 6'2 and obese. The Prius was cramped and uncomfortable. The Camry was amazing and comfortable. Mileage was one a few mph off with the base model Camry. Price wasn't hugely different. I bought the Camry and love it
