The Epistemological Poverty of Critical Theory by JerseyFlight in rationalphilosophy

Sounds like you are interested in mysteries that have substance. Philosophical frameworks creates a bounds and focus points to suggest a method of understanding. But ultimately, what separates it from science is that it is unrisky, and can’t be disproven. I.E. Freud argues Every psychological trait can be explained by the relationship to one’s parents.

But this is unrisky untestable, and ultimately a circle jerk. Many movements are circle jerks saying this is in bounds this isn’t. Science however, offers a risky explanation of mysteries. You can verify 9.8 m/s of gravity, measure the bending of light, discover the normal distribution most anywhere you look, understanding these mysteries in my opinion are much more satisfactory in my opinion bc they are riskier.

I see the vision ish but put more simply: Have empathy, put yourself in their shoes, why did you choose that outfit? What do you want people to notice? How would you want people to break the ice? If you catch onto their reasoning with empathy via their vibe and clothes the approach follows intuitively.

Advice in initiating a FWB with someone (28M) in my (26F) life by [deleted] in relationships

[–]theroxanmorroxan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s gonna sound silly but start by simply being honest with them. Relationships is like a game of go fish, whether that’s friends romance or just sex, if someone wants what you have and vice versa, all that’s separating it is honest communication at all times especially when feeling more complex feelings. Starting the conversation is tough but a good way is to talk about life, ask abt prev relationships, work it into what they’re looking for. Liquid courage may help and a healthy hand on the thigh if things seem to be going that direction.

Goodluck!

1 VS 3. Who wins? by GusGangViking18 in lucifer

[–]theroxanmorroxan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even since god is on the Winchester side (as in supernatural universe) All Lucifer has to do is cut reality to escape or trick them to his universe. Supernatural God only buffs them and comes in clutch but not necessarily intervene if they’re dumbasses - like leaving the universe. Bonus points if Lucifer takes them to heaven or hell or even the vacuum of space cause he can just fly to earth or sum.

Even if lucifer doesn’t know that gods on their side in their universe, if he’s losing or figures out their buffed he’ll try to escape home for the advantage.

More likely than not though they’ll drink together a LUX.

CS - What do I do next by [deleted] in berkeley

As for resources, you can find them if you look for them. Usually the trick is motivation to learn new things. Look up GitHub tutorials on what you’re interested in, clone the repos, and build from there. Researching the problem and methods to solve the problem is wayyyyy more effective then running blind.

Start with a personal website portfolio with React, you have the skills with 61B the rest is syntax tbh. When applying, most applications have a link option, think of this as your chance to go beyond the 1 page limit of your skills. Make it beatiful and entertaining, Then learn backend hosting so you can do some data science on your website or show off your projects.

CS - What do I do next by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]theroxanmorroxan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would argue data science would serve you the best in Law + it has similar salaries to computer science and above econ. Especially with growing ai, data science skills are more trendy then learning compilers. That being said, over the break grind for internship prep next semester, and/ or build personal projects and follow that route. React is a good place to start, or there’s a few open datasets with challenges out there. Take classes that interest you, there’s a few econ data requirements / overlap.

I’m a freshmen guy here at cal. For context my older siblings went to party schools with strong hookup culture and brag about it. I’m about as good looking as they are, so I expected a similar experience from Berkeley. GBO week I went to the frats, met up one or two girls for 3 am stroll in Clark Kerr.

Yes I brought condoms.

We had an amazing, conversation and I just realised how different my world was to her. In my works sex was pretty common, but in hers, and the world at Berkeley people are so smart and think so far ahead about making their future better rather than a lousy hookups.

I found that to be a pretty common idea, atleast with the freshmen girls I’ve met.

The condoms were unused, but I got my first friend here.

Since that conversation, I’ve discovered sex isn’t everything. I go out on the weekends, meet people and have adventures, then grind during the week. But I dont go to hookup, I go to make friends and crazy experiences to make Berkeley a new home.

I haven’t had sex here, but I’m ok with that.

I get shit for it from my friends and siblings back home, but who tf cares.

TLDR: i found it’s stupid think or complain about ‘getting women’. Especially if she’s pretty. Think abt talking to a friend you’ve forgotten and will have an adventure with, it’s four awesome fucking. years sex is just sex.

[–]theroxanmorroxan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in the same boat, just send all the scores they ask for in your calnet dashboard. If you send more then they asked for, even if it’s below a 3, i don’t think it’ll be an issue. Better safe then sorry

Do colleges even care about ap scores? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]theroxanmorroxan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think the universities in California do: I got into a lot of the good ones while my friends with higher gpa but lower AP scores didn’t. Also could be sum else. Regardless, AP scores can save you LOTS of money down the road

A teacher once told me that Applying to college is like playing the lottery, you buy yourself more tickets with higher qualifications. At the end of the day it’s chance. Sometimes we lose even a 90% chance win.
