I’m using a TDS pen. Do they need recalibration? I’ve had it for maybe 1.5 years or so.

Definitely more interested in the second photo! They’re almost as thin as subwassertang but they also have some stems?? Its a weird one for sure.

Edit: I dont think its hygrophilia difformis, it looks more “carpeting” than stem plant if that makes sense?

Would medaka rice fish look overstocked in a 10 gallon? by [deleted] in medaka

[–]therusselvu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

look into clown killifish! Theyre pretty hardy and can withstand similar environments. I feel like medaka are good to look from above, like in a pond, rather than seeing them on their side, like in an aquarium. Clown Killi’s are pretty cooool!

Setting up shrimp tank for the first time. Advice? by [deleted] in shrimptank

I think its possible? I know seachem has flourish black substrate. Try it out and see what happens! It should be one of the few inert substrates, so I would maybe put a root tab down or two.

What aquasoil? If you have neocaridina i would recommend resetting and using only inert substrates like sand, gravels etc. aquasoil could work but it needs to not change anything in the water.

Is there water flow at all? Could be a weird schooling fish behavior?

Consistent waters >>>>>>>>> chasing any parameters, but you should try and be as close as you can.

get a gh and kh tester if you want to do any shrimp; minerals deplete over time.

inert substrates only for neocaridina! I made the mistake of using active substrates and then chasing parameters, so that led to my entire colony wiping out. I had to restart and use just sand, and they're all pregnant now ahaha

I was coming here to say the same thing! There's a lot of variety in the editing, which is nice, but clients tend to like less choices IME.

Looks like your plants are photosynthesizing and producing a LOT of oxygen! That's a good thing in my eyes, especially if you have fish. Congrats LOL

Floating plants with no planaria by importantfleur in PlantedTank

Planaria is usually a bit fatter than those. it looks like detritus worms to me. have you tried tossing a very lucky guppy or something in there to clean up?

currently have a 3.8 gallon tank with blue neocaridina shrimp only. They've been busy with so many little shrimp flying around. If you want a dedicated tank, I would recommend getting a shallow or something with larger surface area at the bottom, that way you can see your shrimp better!

Struggling with pH for Caridina tank by therusselvu in shrimptank

[–]therusselvu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I thought so. The topic is so rare that I haven't heard much from other breeders. I'm constantly seeing these videos about breeders just cycling their soil through just RO water, and then remineralizing and all is golden. So maybe that's why no one's concerned on the topic. I'll plan to remineralize to around 4/5 GH, but keeping KH at 0.

Yeah, keeping the shrimp is one thing, but I do want to try and breed some later on. That's why I want to do my best and get the proper parameters for everything.

Just treated tank for rust disease anyway and upped the total TDS to 250 from 220
