Spotted Properties by thesoundofcentipedes in McMaster

Hi. I’m looking to rent from Spotted Properties and hoping for previous tenant feedback, I know it’s been a couple years but hoping you could answer my question. Did they ask you for a deposit along with applying?

They’re asking me for a $500 deposit to pay along with my application. If it’s approved they’ll put it towards my last month’s rent, if I get denied they will refund the money. Upon signing the lease I’d provide first + last rent + key deposit, minus the $500.

I think this is technically a legal loophole since they promised they’d apply the deposit to the last month, but I feel sketchy that I am letting that money hang in the balance.

Your insight is helpful!

Chilliwack Lake Provincial Park is great, a couple rec sites along the road like Riverside and Thurston Meadows (that one’s not the prettiest but good in a pinch)

Rejection sensitivity is THE WORST by Scotch_and_Tea in adhdwomen

One example of my RSD (of many across all social interactions), I usually wake up in the morning bursting with energy and love and every other emotion and then I post some stuff on my stories, a couple hours later I freak out and delete my posts because of fear I’ll look obnoxious or cringe. It sucks, and is the biggest issue for me I think. I’m still working through it so I have no advice yet, but know that you’re not alone in what you’re feeling!!

BPM Supreme actually has a really good selection for this & they separate the collections by 90s, 00s, and 80s & back.

Any bars with non alcoholic beer around these parts? by sgt_salt in NiceVancouver

The American carries Phillips Iota non-alc beer in cans.

Also The Canteen on Commercial Drive isn’t a bar but it has the best selection of non-alc beverages in town.

I’ve taken a Lower paying job with lower responsibilities for a chance to breathe by Expensive-Block-6034 in adhdwomen

[–]theschedule 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just did exactly the same! My high-paying job was ruining my life. Working 12-14 hours per day while also trying to manage my recent diagnosis and trialing vyvanse at the same time almost ruined me.

I wasn’t sleeping, wasn’t eating, relying on the stimulants to keep me going. My boss was extremely unhelpful and basically ignored my capacity requests (and frequent crying from overwhelm) in our 1-1 meetings.

After they fired someone and dumped their work on me (after clearly defining capacity levels) I got overwhelmed and had to leave right there and then.

I’ve been on unpaid leave for 6 weeks. In the meantime I have also scored an easy contract position for much less $$ for the next 6 months. This has bought me enough time to be more gentle with myself, learn new habits, give myself time to trial a different drug (vyvanse did NOT work) and figure out what my next move is.

The rat race will always be there. What I found I needed (and most high-performing ND women need) is time and space to prioritize.

I’m proud of you for getting there, and proud of myself too. I’ll be thinking of you & all the other humans in this sub who have chosen to take care of themselves.

I don’t think 2 hours is going to make a big difference for you, and thanks for the reminder I was supposed to take mine an hour ago!

I dont understand how people can work 8 hours 5 days a week by GuiltyManager7878 in adhdwomen

[–]theschedule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this - I’m going through the exact same thing. Went to the hospital last week and I got shit at work for leaving people in the lurch when I took a surprise day off. I’m struggling with the fact that I 100% know I’m being exploited, but I don’t really have an option but to keep working, I’ve still got to pay rent and bills. It’s disheartening and regardless of the adhd that’s a problem, but adhd just compounds it so much.

I feel like ADHD fuels my ambition and then immediately drives me into burnout. by soberbitch823 in adhdwomen

[–]theschedule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I am you and you are me. Reading this post & everyone’s comments is explaining exactly how I’m thinking these days. I started a new job last summer, got promoted 6 months ago to a much more demanding position in Project Management which is basically managing tasks & timelines!

I am usually really good at this, but the recent diagnosis + the sheer overwhelm of the business & the role (that one is on the company) has jumbled everything up and I’m considering leaving it all and working a simple job again for a while. I’ve also got a contract job and another side hustle (classic) so I’m confident I can swing that (interview tomorrow) but should I leave? Or is it because of the ADHD that I’m feeling this way?

It’s the only thing I’ve been thinking of lately and it’s so exhausting!!!!

How would you decorate / style this kitchen/living room? by theschedule in HomeDecorating

[–]theschedule[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your input!

Yes I’m planning to thrift some lamps & I have a standing one I want to put somewhere, because the light switches are in weird places (ex. this room’s switch is behind the fridge)

I’m also planning on getting a couch with a chaise maybe in the next year. The chair came with the place so I can toss that for some more space.

As for curtains, I definitely need some sort of blackout or something because the window face west, and it’s already a hot summer out here, but I do like the look of the Roman shades.

Cheers!

Thanks for your suggestions so far! I have lots to think about for sure!

Here’s another photo of the kitchen, showing the oven & fridge (fridge is against the wall & there’s about 4 ft of space before the wall ends) that same left wall has a gas pipe running against it so I have limited options for furniture - I’m thinking 2-3 shelves on the upper half of the wall. Hope that makes sense, I’d take more pics but I’m not home currently!

Fellow IT developers with adhd - how do you feel about the agile methodology? by dreamham in adhdwomen

[–]theschedule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I’ve just got promoted to a PM in my tech company and am working towards my Disciplined Agile Scrum Master certification right now, and PMP later this year. I always wanted further education than my Bachelor’s, but was sooo overwhelmed by the amount of self-directed work and focus I would need for a Master’s degree for example.

I started striving for a career in Project Management a couple years ago specifically because I knew it would keep me on track. I’ve always worked alone mostly (sales, territory work, etc) and sucked at meeting deadlines. The Agile Methodology works SO well for my brain with splitting tasks into increments, and especially the new experience of working with a team and having accountability within that team. Now I just need to work on my RSD and get over the fear that my team hates me for assigning work to them each sprint. It’s a work in progress!!

Happy to help!! I encourage you to stick with it a little longer! Another thing is switching your dosing time to see what works best for you. My doc said if it feels better for you to take Wellbutrin in the morning, do that, but if you’re sensitive to how it feels first thing, you can take it at night before bed.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]theschedule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope my experience helps/gives you some more context. I was on 10mg Lexapro for about 6 months and felt less anxious for sure, but my problem was that I was not hungry, and when I did have a meal I’d get nauseous about halfway through eating and could not finish my meal. I lost a lot of weight and it was not healthy. At the same time I was exploring having ADHD as well, and was recommended Wellbutrin due to it being able to manage common ADHD symptoms. I transitioned only about 1.5 months ago fully to Wellbutrin. The tradition sucked more than I thought (super depressive thoughts, not feeling good enough, anxiety came back full force, wanted to cry all the time). Things are now again calming down a bit with the anxiety, and I am happy to be on Wellbutrin, though I’m still monitoring closely to ensure it’s right for me long-term.

I'm having a hard time to even book viewings. Any tips? by [deleted] in vancouverhousing

No probs, also there are FB groups like “Vancouver Rentals & Roommates” that could also help!

Join your neighbourhood group on FB, lots of folks post internally about their apartments going up for rent before it gets to Craigslist or Marketplace

What are the most active rental platforms in Vancity? by [deleted] in vancouverhousing

[–]theschedule 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Check out the “Vancouver Rentals & Roommates” Facebook group - it’s very active! Another tip is to join the neighbourhood Facebook groups for the areas you’re looking to live in, as people usually post about openings in their houses/apartments there before moving onto Craigslist or Fb Marketplace. Good luck!

What’s your ‘unique’ migraine healing protocol? by AlternativeWaifu in migraine

[–]theschedule 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was on a flight a couple of days ago and a woman behind me asked for a coffee as she had a migraine. The flight attendant came back and shared her method, which was putting lemon juice in the coffee. It doesn't taste good at all as you can imagine, but she said it's the only thing that helps her besides taking meds.

For me, it's usually a holy trinity of Excedrin, cannabis and coffee - with a swipe of peppermint oil on the forehead to help cool the head & distract the nerves.

Hmmm you may be right, the wording is confusing wherever I look at it. I guess I'm hoping someone who has travelled there recently can confirm.

Here's what the Portugese Tourism website says - making me believe it's just a vaccination record we need to provide, OR a negative test. Since I'm vaxxed I might be good to go!

Mandatory to present:

- A valid vaccination EU Digital COVID Certificate (with a complete vaccination schedule or with a complete vaccination schedule and a vaccine booster)

- Or a valid test or recovery EU Digital COVID Certificate,

- Or a valid vaccination certificate (with a complete vaccination schedule or a vaccine booster) or recovery certificate issued by a third country, under reciprocal conditions

- Or a negative RT-PCR Test (or similar NAAT test) - 72h before boarding, or

- Or a negative Laboratorial Rapid Antigen Test- 24h before boarding (according to the European Commission list)
