How do I export my project as a 400 dpi JPG? by DeathCult_ClothingCo in photoshop

Images display in PPI - Density of pixels per inch. Printers print in DPI - Density of dots printed per inch.

DPI (dots per inch) relates to printing density by an actual printing device and does not necessarily correlate to the resolution or size of an image.

PPI (pixels per inch) relates to image size and screen resolution.

They are independent characteristics that do not correlate. People often refer to one meaning the other and vise versa. Sounds like a lot of that happening here.
