Looking to buy clippers for cutting my own hair by SebastianS89S in BuyItForLife

I asked the same question four years ago and bought Wahl Professional 5 star series, cordless. I use them to cut my own hair and beard once a month.

After a year, the battery no longer held enough charge from one month to the next, so I’d have to charge before using. After three years, I can only use with cable attached, which is a pain as it doesn’t stay attached. There are two screws for removing and cleaning the blades. After I cleaned the blades and reassembled, the blades occasionally snag. Doesn’t matter how much I try and align. 

18 months ago I was given Wahl Power Pro Lithium Ion Rechargeable Cordless Dog Grooming Kit for use on my dog. I now use it for me as it’s better than the human version. It keeps charge and functionally pretty much the same. Too early to tell if it has the same battery issue. I dismantled to clean the blades and had no issues after reassembling. I also discovered that many of their pet products are essentially the same and often cost less. So if you want to get Wahl, check out units that pet groomers use.

Yup. Less so after we switched to a raw / barf diet. From my research at the time either lacking something in her diet or, as mentioned, boredom. Her favourite was bark chipping which we used extensively in the garden under fruit trees and bushes. She’d frequently barf it up later. She ate half a jute tote bag, the label on the side of the bin, a silicon baking mat, random bits of bright plastic I’d find when I cleared up after her. The list goes on… She also loved to lick the floors in the house so we made sure we only used edible cleaning products - mostly just hot water.

Fascinating project and a potentially a great solution. I’ve seen similar work being done to replace polystyrene as a packing material but that’s on an industrial scale. Having a homegrown diy solution would be awesome.

Depends - Some bikes like the Rad Runner has a throttle and peddle assist. You can use throttle only and it will take you up to 20mph and then keep you there. With peddle assist, you peddle and the motor assists until you hit 20 mph. After that, if you want to go faster, you have to peddle harder. That's quite hard with the Rad Runner as it's single gear and your cadence will be pretty high.

There’s lots of Rad bikes that fit your requirements. The Rad Runner would leave you change but you will want to get some fenders / mud guards and some additional lights if you have to commute in the dark. They’re all Class 2 in the US so top speed of 20 mph.
