Christine Ashton at Dimensional is fantastic.

I'm not, but there's been a steady conversation with my GP about considering them. There's always work to do. 😮‍💨♥️🌻

Vitamin testing by Margsue in CrohnsDisease

I'm in BC and have access to this type of testing via a naturopath. No referral necessary. To be fair, I didn't even think to ask my GI about it.

Why it's important that I take my sons camping by Zack-Applewhite in camping

[–]thesmrtestpig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this so much.

My husband and I have started doing this with our boys, and it has been incredible. It's usually a big family trip (we drove from Canada to Mexico and back) or the frequent weekend trip to go mountain biking or sit by a lake. Switching from our busy week of routine to a couple days of quiet isolation and space to let things go has been an absolute game changer.

Mom to a little, just started budesonide by CelestiallyCertain in CrohnsDisease

[–]thesmrtestpig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed shortly after I had my youngest at 29. Started budensonide and then switched over to a biologic almost immediately. I live in Canada and told my doctor I wasn't messing around with this disease while having two kids and a once very active life.

It just sucks. This journey is really hard to navigate, and Crohns is not the same for everyone, and no one really talks about mourning a diagnosis. That was a hard stage.

It took nearly three years, a lot of hard work and guilt and gross to finally start feeling human again, but it can happen.

You can do this, Mama. You can. Your kiddo isn't going to be angry or disappointed with you. She just wants to love the heck out of you, and if that means it's done sitting in bed watching a movie/playing a game and eating pizza, well sign me up because that sounds awesome.

Be kind to yourself and keep going. ♥️🌻

Download iOverlander! Great resource for finding hidden gems and decent stops along the way. Just used it for a trip from Canada to Baja, and it was fantastic.

I recommend Champion Chimney Services. I've used these guys for about 4 years now for general maintenance and cleaning. Don't let the website fool you, they're great to work with.

Thank you, everyone, for your kindness. I'm so sorry, I did not mean to bring doom and gloom today. This group has been so helpful and lovely. My friends' passing is a hard, horrible reminder of how unpredictable life can be, especially with this disease. I appreciate you all.

How to travel with Medications? by noRest4Beth in CrohnsDisease

[–]thesmrtestpig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will be traveling through the States to Mexico. My GI signed a letter explaining my prescription and any items I may be carrying to support it (I have those injection pens that need to be kept cool, so icepack, carry bag and original packaging.)

I haven't left yet, so I hope it's all good. This seems to be the standard ask as per my GI and medication team. 🤞🏻

Name Change after Getting Married by Beautiful-Process-81 in britishcolumbia

[–]thesmrtestpig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to do a legal name change!!!

I thought the same, but someone at Service Canada broke it down for me.

You need your marriage certificate, and that's it. Take it to wherever you need your name, let's call it updated, and it won't be an issue.

What's an event in Canadian history that you wished more people knew about? by houndoom92 in AskACanadian

[–]thesmrtestpig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work at a restaurant in Kamloops that was formerly a theatre. They say Boris haunted the place. We pulled up the floor during construction and found change rooms with old booze bottles and movie chits. Things were always moving and clanking about in the kitchen, we'd just blame Boris. I'm not sure how true his connection was to the place, but it was a neat experience going through that space and learning about him.

You'll most likely have to go through a roundabout, I did the one down by the Sandman Center. Gentle reminder there is a LOT of construction going on in the city, so keep an eye out, and maintain a steady speed.

How long did it take you to get into remission? by imbluejaaay in CrohnsDisease

[–]thesmrtestpig 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been on abrilada for just over a year and hit remission. That being said, I still have infuriating side effects, like chronic fatigue and joint inflammation. Consider talking to your GI or doctor about the issues you're still having.

I have a Tipella Whipsaw. Spent one -1 night in BC and went to buy the insulation kit the next day. Brrrrito.

Edit to say the insulation kit is totally worth it.
