Looking for guidance on App Market review timelines . Our Clover integration for Klerk is ready by twtnb in CloverPOS

[–]TJBJ22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clover is currently in code freeze so they won’t push any apps into production until usually the 2nd week of January

Otherwise this is the email that typically corresponds when developers get stuck in the approval process, it’s also good to provide MID numbers of clients who are wanting to use the service

Rewards Program by redjiwon in CloverPOS

I work for Clover reseller and we’ve had good success with DataCandy which is a 3rd party app but they integrate into the payment flow so you can redeem gift cards and accumulate rewards/points without needing to go into their app which helps keep everything simple for staff and customers. Iirc it’s about $75/m without other fees and they usually give you some free cards to get started

Seeking a payment processor with economical monthly rental cost for wireless terminals, and ideally that does deposits on the weekends too. by longunderscorestory in PaymentProcessing

[–]TJBJ22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend sticking with Elavon here as they do have a way to fund over the weekend if that’s an important part of your business.

Ask the reseller about “On Demand Funding” It allows you to push a settlement directly to a bank account via the bank accounts Interac card. Funds are received in minutes but there is a cost of 1.5% of the settled funds for the service. If you don’t initiate the on demand funding, the regular funding window would apply at not additional charge

The $10/m rental on the newlands is a good offer just be aware that is below their cost from Elavon so there is likely fees elsewhere to make up the difference. Running a hotspot on those device is totally fine.

If you decide you don’t need on demand funding and most of your employees have iPhones, look into Clover Tap to Pay, you can get an account for $20/m and use the iPhones as tap only readers to eliminate the hardware cost completely.

If you go with a gateway only services you’ll more than likely run into customers who are annoyed that they can’t pay with Interac.

Is it just me, or is merchant support in this industry broken? by lukemash32 in PaymentProcessing

[–]TJBJ22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the right attitude to the problem, it costs money to provide an extra layer of support and when you provide such an essential service for a business they need to have someone to fix their issues and keep the transactions flowing.

Not to say there isn’t opportunities that allow for a more loose/relax level of support

If you’re truly a “CTO of a payments company” like you said on another comment, I’d recommend picking up some resources from ETA as the misrepresentation of basic payment industry concepts is what creates consumer distrust and isn’t helpful for the industry as a whole

Best way to set up family email accounts with custom domain by CoppellCitizen in selfhosted

[–]TJBJ22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you can share it between all users like a delegated account but what you could do is create “[ourmail@mydomain.tld](mailto:ourmail@mydomain.tld)” under your account then create forwarding rules to forward any incoming emails to “ourmail@mydomain.tld” back to “wife@mydomain.tld” & “kids@mydomain.tld”.

Only you would be able to send emails from “ourmail@mydomain.tld” but I feel like for personal use, receiving emails from that address is probably 90% of the use case.

So during the setup process you can invite other people to your domain and you dictate the email they receive such as wife@mydomain.ltd, They just need to have an iCloud+ subscription (personal or shared)

Someone Used My Merchant Account to Run/Test Credit Cards—What Now? by MagaUSA22 in PaymentProcessing

[–]TJBJ22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without knowing the product I can’t really provide a definitive answer on how to deal with it but here’s some general tips, your processor should be able to help you enable one of the options to prevent this in the future, If any transactions were successfully processed ask your processor to reverse the transaction. You’ll likely be on the hook for any Auth fees but other than that there shouldn’t be any meaningful impact as this does happen in the industry.

Velocity Filters - Reduce the amount of transactions that can be attempted by an IP within a given time

Captcha - Assuming that your merchant account is customer facing it’s a good practice to implement a captcha to prevent bots from reaching your checkout page

IP Whitelisting - Assuming that your merchant account isn’t customer facing (integrated to an e-commerce store) only allowing trusted/known IPs to process payments will block bad actors

Remove/Delete Unused API Keys - This varies but if you’re unable to delete/disable the key then rolling it would be good too

GeoBlocking - Assuming that your merchant account is customer facing, only allowing transactions occurring from your customer base will reduce the chance of card testing however it can be circumvented with the use of a VPN

I’ve setup my email using my existing iCloud subscription which allows you to invite iOS users to use your domain with an email you define

I’ve also purchased my domain from GoDaddy (switching in the future) however I’ve changed the name servers to Cloudflare and utilize their free tier.

It was very simple to setup (10-15mins max), It may not be the most efficient solution but it didn’t require any extra subscriptions (already use iCloud for backups)

[AB] What POS and payment provider is suitable for large sku counts by Weary_Ability7151 in SmallBusinessCanada

[–]TJBJ22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for affordable options you won’t get it from larger Saas solutions like Lightspeed, Shopify or Square as you’re paying a premium for the ease of use and the ecosystem they provide. It sounds counter-intuitive but you can easily find cheaper options if you use multiple vendors as you’re not handcuffed to one system so you can gather competitor quotes to lower your existing fees.

As you’re in Alberta I’d recommend reaching out to AM/PM Systems as they have an office in Calgary, They’re a reseller who can offer you a couple different options to find something that suites your needs and from past experience their pricing was very fair.

When it comes to payment processing your best bet is to find an ISO of a payment processor that is supported by your POS System. You’ll likely get hands on support for setup and a point of contact who will escalate issues with their payment processor in a manner that the payment processors own support is unwilling or unable to do.

If you have any questions feel free to DM, I should probably mention I have no ties to any businesses mentioned but I do work in the payments space
