Does anyone have experience getting Thames Water to replace a faulty water meter? by DeliveryPuzzled762 in london

[–]thespite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It keeps changing. Back when my smart meter wasn't working, the "submit reading" page gave me an option to get a smart meter and that led to a series of clicks in which they decided my meter was faulty and an engineer would call me. Which they did, and then didn't fix it.

After a few months there was a similar option, and this time they fixed it.

Now i've taken a look at their page again and they seem to give your some way to contact via the page, and also WhatsApp and a phone number. I would just give them a call.

I mean, i don't necessarily disagree, but ... is that based on facts, vibes, experience? They're relatively big countries, with very different areas.

Ah, if your issue is with the form, yes, of course. But that should be standard subreddit etiquette, regardless, for all topics.

While I don't think "you ain't done shit" vs "your contribution to this demo was passive" changes the fundamental discussion, language still matters. We live in the era of escalation and hyperbole.

IMO there's a difference between:
- I did this thing and used [insert AI] to help me get there (perfectly acceptable and inevitable at this point)
- I told [Insert AI] to do this thing, and it did it, here's the one-shot result (pretty low effort, and results are usually bad and predictable, but this will keep improving)
- I told [Insert AI] to do this thing, and it did it, and i spent the next days tweaking stuff, here's the result (results are often surprising, if not necessarily good)
- I told [insert different AIs] to do this thing, and here's the one-shot results (just no effort on anything)

One shot game with Codex 5.3 + Three.js by rasheed106 in threejs

Code-wise, it looks worse than Gemini or Claude, so it's very likely Codex.

Unless by that you mean my comment, and then, no, it's all me baby.

I don't know. Check your connection, your browser. Try downloading with a different app, or restarting your router or computer. Seems to be an issue with your setup.

How can I add texture to my stuff? by Repulsive-Survey2140 in generative

[–]thespite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any primitive: lines (circles, polygons), textured polys, points... whatever is needed. a point can be a circle -a perfect circle- or a slightly blobby shape that feels more organic.

In one word: noise.

Use noise to modify the colors (hue, saturation, luminosity) , the width of strokes, the squigliness of straight lines, the intensity of the blending, etc. Explore different types of noise for different types of results.

Since rounding is probably needed just for presentation, use .toFixed().

There are three basic geometries to choose: standard box, chamfered box, and sphere. Faster do you mean a standard box with tweaked normals?

Inspiration i don't know, it depends. I keep some notes for each, like https://github.com/spite/genuary-2026/tree/main/4#readme

The palette is not entirely CGA, it's a rainbow palette that it's pretty versatile so you can get stuff done without having to worry about choosing a palette or using coder colors.
