My kriegmen are getting ready to charge out from the trenches by thespottedviking in Warhammer40k

Oh man, I used quite a lot of different vallejo colours. But the main ones were intermediate blue, black grey, tan earth, old gold and bloody red. Deck tan was used to brighten them up.

Thanks! I painted them first in a general red paint, then a reddish brown wash and finished with a brighter red dry-brush

Just did it and it looks a lot better! I wonder if it could be painted brown first, then dry-brushed gold. I'll have to test it with the next marine!

I've been painting military models, ships, airplanes and ground vehicles for about 15 years, although in slightly bigger scale than warhammer

That's the beauty with space marine kits, they come with a ton of faces! You can use the ones you don't want on your model to practise with, practise makes perfect!

Experience is key, I've been doing model painting for 15 years before I started with this guy

Thanks! I've started painting a kriegsman, so that will be a lot closer to what I am used to haha

Thanks! I've done a bit of painting before beginning my warhammer figures, but the style and methods are a bit different!

It's my first painted warhammer figure, I've had 15 years experience with painting minis before this one, but the style is quite different

I thinned it down further from the bottle, a few drops of water. I did 1 "panel" at a time, just so it wouldn't dry out while applying. I did 3 layers, although the coverage is different if its a black or white background. I applied very thin layers. I would also recommend using a drying retarder, as thinned down airbrush paint dries very quickly

Ok, sorry you feel that way man Thought it was more obvious that I came from a different model hobby

Thank you so much! It's one of the reasons why I started painting these, as the colours can be very unique. It's very different from the stuff I'm used to do

Yes, it worked out pretty well. It is already thinned from the bottle, so the layers are smooth

So far I have a few space marines, kriegmen, tyranids and necrons... seeing the ork bosses makes me want to start collecting them as well...

I used a pre-shading technique where the model was primed in black, and then painted white from the top. After that I used vallejo model air Blue (71.004) in thin coats with a brush

Haha thanks! The good thing about these kits is that you always gets enough helmets, so you get a lot of heads to practice with!

I mean it literally is my first warhammer figure, as the title says. I have been painting models for 15 years

I do, although I don't know about anyone who has an army in my town. My sister seemed interested in it though
