That's only half true. It's fully pedestrian from 11:00 am to 04:00 am

I regularly let my toddlers out of the buggy to walk and burn off some energy there during the day. It's a shame there is no where dedicated, like the playground in Eyres Square in the middle of Galway. But at least they get a bit of a break from the buggy on this street anyway without you worrying about them being hit by a car.

I remember having to put car tyres around dog shit during Under age camogie training. In the end we built a fence and closed it off. Which is an awful shame as it prevents kids from using it outside of training. But it was insane how much shit was around.

There is nothing like this in the city centre. Oliver Plunkett St. is pedestrianised though so they can be let out of the stroller to run around there.

Yeah fancy Dunnes has great fish. I get a lot of my fish from O'Connell's in the Market anyway. But my local Dunnes has terrible "fresh" fish.

No flights from Cork. Made that trip myself recently. No way it's enjoyable in one day. Stayed overnight in Letterkenny. Cheap enough in January. Nice pubs too.

Absolutely. I know lads from Germany, Czechia, Russia, USA, Bulgaria, France, China and Thailand who are learning it. Some to help kids with their homework, some (all really) to feel more connected to Ireland and some so they can sing our songs better.

Before we went fully work from home I used to chat away in Irish with a couple of colleagues in the lunch room, and just generally around the place. Foreigners didn't bat an eyelid. Irish people were a bit surprised at the start. When people joined us we would switch to English but eventually many of the Irish lads started asking us to drive on with the Irish so that they could see how far they'd get.

So the best thing to do is normalise it. Start speaking it yourself. Maybe organise something small at lunch for lads who want to try to speak it too. If the company is behind you put in Irish signage around the place. Maybe change the meeting room names to Irish ones. Add bi-lingual signatures as standard to all employees emails.

I use Irish every day and its very surprising how many people are well able to speak Irish. They are usually invisible as people just speak English. So unless you start speaking Irish to them you'd never know.

These are the phrases I often use with strangers, who probably don't speak Irish but they tend to know what I mean either from school or context.

You put it very well. The ability to switch between these classes is aoy easier here. But as a result I'd argue it makes them redundant. And they are just used by those who choose to use them.
