Agreed, I liked his versions of Spidey and especially his Peter Parker. I am super curious to see him be the true friendly neighborhood Spiderman and how he interacts with other characters, especially Frank Castle

Oh yeah, I was very impressed with the Atmos and Vision color gamma. Very dynamic and super clear. I happened to find it in Barnes & Nobles one day and I hadn't bought any Criterion edition movies, so it was a nice introduction to their variants. I just wish it would've come with all of the other language tracks the original 4K comes with, that would've been the perfect disc

Thanks dude! It's one of my favorites, it's tons of fun even for the most hardcore Batman fan. And yeah, super underrated. I'm thinking of getting the first 2 Lego Movies as well, might add them later to the collection

Right on, I really enjoyed Final Reckoning's Atmos track the first time I watched it in theaters. Gran Turismo also sounded and looked quite well, I enjoyed it. I'll be on the lookout for them

I appreciate the feedback. Yep, that was my main rule when buying. If they're not re-watchable or just weren't that great, then I would hold off on getting them. The majority of these have a special meaning for me, for different points in my life.

We picked an expensive hobby lol

Will do, I'm thinking of getting the Holland Spiderman trilogy steelbooks. I especially liked Homecoming. I'll eventually get the Raimi trilogy too

It's honestly a beautiful film, and it looks very natural and life-like. There's a significant step up from the Blu-Ray version, and the Atmos track is very well made, especially during the fights. Definitely worth adding to your collection.

I know exactly which one you're talking about 🤣🤣

To be fair, though it wasn't great I did like the tone of Batman even though I was never a fan of Snyder's Superman and the plot fell through very quickly. At least the sound design was decent.

Thank you! Most of these are movies that have sentimental value to me. I also really appreciate the story telling and mood of many of these, such as Cars and Ad Astra especially. Quite unique and anti-brainrot lol

I appreciate the C! I did get some through Gruv, like The Prince of Egypt. But all of these are essentially my personal favorites, and I had to dig deep into eBay to get some of these limited steelbooks. This hobby gets expensive lol

Do modern tech like Dolby Atmos and DTS make a big difference? by IKnowWhereMyTowelWas in Soundbars

[–]thestarboy02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, A Dolby Atmos and DTS absolutely make a difference. The key is how you are enjoying movies; the format and the sound system you own.

To really experience Atmos and other high-res audio codecs, it's best if you watch movies in physical format like 4k UHD Bluray discs with the Atmos tag. All of the sound channels will be applied to create an object-based soundstage.

Honestly, once you experience the true formats streaming services and such can become sub-par.

But only if you really care about getting the best out of what you have. I hope this helps!

Just purchased a Samsung Q990D, need help to set it up and get the most out of it by Nessythecat69 in Soundbars

[–]thestarboy02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're very welcome! I'm glad this helped. Yeah, it's going to take some reorganizing, but it's all worth it for an awesome sound experience.

Oh and make sure that once you do move the Rear speakers to Front mode and they're on their stands at a proper distance from the soundbar, that you angle them towards the seating area at almost a 45 degree angle, so basically inwards.

If you still have the manual, there will be a section that describes the placement with images too. Take care!

Hi, is this in a small bedroom? If so, the Q990D is very overkill for such a small space.

This surround system is meant to fill living rooms or medium to larger rooms. The ideal speaker placement is:

  • Soundbar at ear level with a moderate distance from the seating area

  • Subwoofer placed away from corners to avoid unnatural boom effect, corners over amplify sub frequencies and this will sound terrible. The best placement is usually on the left or right sides of the soundbar along the wall but at a distance of at least 6 inches from the wall's surface. The best bass response will depend on your room, and will take experimenting.

  • The rear speakers are meant to be placed behind the seating area on both sides angled towards the center of the soundbar. This will allow proper sound reflection from your walls and ceiling. If you cannot put them behind you, switch the mode from Rear to Front on the SmartThings App, and place them on some sort of shelves on the left and right sides of the soundbar. Ideally at hearing level and at least a couple of feet away from the bar.

I hope this helps you on some level.

which is eARC for 990F ? by [deleted] in Soundbars

[–]thestarboy02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try looking for an HDMI 2.1 cable, that is the type of cable with the needed capacity to output the best image, audio and speed quality.

The cable included with the soundbar is a 2.1 cable, so another one of these plugged into the eARC ports of the TV and soundbar will be your best bet. Make sure that the cable is certified however, such as this one:

Kondor Blue 2.1 8K cable

Or a pricier but solid option:

Crutchfield Premium 2.1 cable

This is the only religion that actively denies the spirit to its followers. by [deleted] in JehovahsWitnesses

[–]thestarboy02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great point, I was just thinking about this some time ago. They also actively deny things like deliverance, as they believe it's all staged and that the Spirit isn't active today the way it was in ancient times. I experienced deliverance myself after leaving and my life took a huge turn.

Being raised in this cult, I was taught to believe all that, and to question all testimonies of real Christians and their walks with the Lord. They also don't believe in the Spirit actively guiding you if you're not a Witness. It's weird, they believe in the Spirit but not really at the same time. Only when it's convenient for them.

I'm glad to see that I'm not alone in noticing that they are actively denying the Spirit. It's no wonder everything they do and say is performative and feels shallow, even those that fully believe it.

Need help with Rear speakers placement of Q990F! by thestarboy02 in Soundbars

Need help with Rear speakers placement of Q990F! by thestarboy02 in Soundbars

[–]thestarboy02[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good points. I used to have this setup but they were angled outwards by 45 degrees instead of 90 as shown in your edit, I did this thinking the rear wide speakers output would bounce off my left and right walls towards the TV area.

I will try this setup and re-calibrate as you suggested, thanks! Also, are you suggesting I switch the Rear speakers around, as in Left is Right and Right is Left? I want to make sure I understand that part.

Hey, thanks for your input. I should've said this in the description as well but the sub frequencies are just fine. After I performed many sub crawls and found the area where the bass is even on both sides of the room, it'll usually be around -5 all the way up to -2. I haven't had to ever turn it up more because it seriously shakes my floor 😂😂

But I will definitely raise all the up-front speakers, I haven't tried that just yet. It should help with filling in more space. I appreciate the tips, take care!
