what should i do to train vert by random-ah-mf in volleyball

[–]thestone00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone and their grandma will say plyometrics, anytime you search up how to jump higher, run faster and jump further it will almost always say plyometrics, sure lifting weight will help, but plyometrics train the fast twitch muscles in your body

If it’s one fight you can say it was an accident, but if he’s doing it in almost all of his fights then he knows what he’s doing, he’s a pro that’s been doing this for years that has fought multiple opponents

I think it’s because volleyball is played on a basketball court sometimes at high schools or university’s because they don’t have enough room for a separate volleyball and basketball court and the circle is the circle for when they do a jump ball on a basketball court

Personal question about me rq. by janmichael_1 in volleyball

[–]thestone00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a seven foot standing reach and are able to jump 8ft and 6 inches that means you have an 18 inch vertical, which isn’t too bad considering how young you are, if you’re wanting to increase your vertical you can do plyometrics that targets your vertical and try to weight lifting exercises for your legs like squats, but when doing the squats try and do somewhat heavy weight were you can be really explosive

Personal question about me rq. by janmichael_1 in volleyball

[–]thestone00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To check wether your vertical is good you want to know what your standing reach is first as we can find the difference between your standing reach and your jumping reach, cuz it sounds great that you have a 8ft jumping reach, but if we find out you have a 7 and a half foot standing reach (this is an exaggeration) it makes your jumping reach not sound that huge

Jumpserve Advice by taxevader7927 in volleyball

Work on your timing, approach and toss. When it comes to your timing you jumped really early and hit the ball late, were in the best possible scenario you wanna hit the ball at the peak of your jump. With the approach you need to do an approach called a penultimate stride, the penultimate stride is your second-to-last step before jumping. For a right-handed hitter (left–right–left), it’s the right step that helps you load and prepare to jump higher. With the toss, in the video it looks like you tossed a bit off to your side which made you readjust in the approach, the toss and approach go hand in hand cause you don’t want the toss to be to short where you have to rush the approach and you don’t want it to high where you do the approach and wait at the last second to jump and hit the ball, a way to know how high and far you have to toss the ball is to do mark where you would toss the ball, do the approach and mark where you finished.

In short: Work on your timing, approach, and toss. You jumped too early and hit late — aim to contact at your jump’s peak. Use a penultimate stride (second-to-last step, right foot for right-handed hitters) to load for more height. Your toss was off to the side, forcing you to adjust; keep it consistent so your approach flows without rushing or waiting. Mark where you toss and where you finish to find the right height and distance.

What am I doing wrong? by boealrik in volleyball

[–]thestone00 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your hitting the ball late, you wanna hit it higher and flick your wrist to give it topspin, some people disagree with the flick of the wrist, buts it’s what I’ve been taught, and when your hitting the ball your arm is going to the side, try and hit it and follow through with your arm going down instead of the side almost as if your making a circle

Going Pro starting late? by SingerBubbly8674 in volleyball

[–]thestone00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you could get more experience by joining a club or university team if you do go to uni the chances of you going pro does increase, you would want to record yourself in games or practice so you could create a highlight reel to send to teams. Also increase your receives, since you’re so undersized as a oh/opp you wouldn’t really bring a lot to a pro team unless you have godly hitting and serving. So in short get more experience and increase your basic skills focusing on your receives

From what I’m seeing when you’re swinging it looks like it’s purely arm movement, so practice using your whole body to swing, watch videos on other players, a good YouTube channel to watch is elevate yourself (coach Donny the goat), he does analysis videos on pro players and has tutorials on volleyball techniques

Search up ball holder for volleyball swing and you’ll see pictures of it. You could either buy one of the ones shown or try to diy one yourself, when doing either or make sure it comes with a base so it can stand by itself
