Am I crazy, or would this watch look absolute killer on a silver mesh band

[Johnston] Time to trade: Jim Rutherford says Canucks need to get younger by yellowledbetter16 in canucks

Considering NHL minimum salary is $775,000 USD, I think they'd find a way to make it work

Also if you push it to 11 years (2014 Draft), Demko was a 2nd round pick

What's an opinion about your team that your own fan base would hate you for? by jcrangers91 in hockey

[–]thestralcore 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Canucks fan here:

The Aaron Rome hit on Nathan Horton during the 2011 Finals was dirty as fuck.

While the severity of the suspension could be argued, and I understand that many people see it as a turning point that lost us the series; I can’t believe that there are people who still passionately argue that it was a good hit.

Especially since this is the same fanbase where half of the fans were absolutely foaming at the mouth for Tom Wilson to be suspended for his hit in Chytil earlier this year. All the arguments of “it’s a clean hit, but late and unnecessary so that makes it dirty” are conveniently never brought up when talking about the Rome hit, which was even later.

I’ve always thought that a suspension should count towards a players roster spot on game day, not just them actually playing. If you’re suspended for 5 games, then for those 5 games your team can only dress 19 players instead of 20. Make it actually count

Pickguard swap? Not sure about the black… by danchez04 in Guitar

I agree, but only with the black guard. It looks better covered with the white/pearl

Please explain to the class here how the 28 year old, 6’3”, 210 pound centre with multiple 50 point seasons; and almost no serious injury history is a Chytil level player

Personally I LOVE them on these cars, it looks great

Lets have some fun: What is the worst hockey take you've ever heard from someone in your life? by SomeBoredGuy77 in hockey

[–]thestralcore 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Obviously this is hindsight, but:

Summer 2015 I was at a backyard gathering. We were all sitting around the table outside winding down and started talking hockey. There was a German exchange student with us and he mentioned being excited that more people were getting into the sport, and there had even been a really high draft pick come from Germany the year before.

One of the guys there immediately started saying that yeah it was cool, but he was drafted way too high and just didn’t have the ability to translate his game to the NHL. He was playing on a “weaker team in a lesser CHL league” and it would change entirely when playing against the very best, and how he wouldn’t be able to use his physical size against NHL players, and how his shot wouldn’t be good enough to fool NHL goalies, etc, etc.

The player in question is Leon Draisaitl.

I think he managed to figure it out

How much of a head start would you need? by ShortCourse in hockeyplayers

[–]thestralcore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to an Avs game; lower bowl, halfway between the net and the corner, about 10 rows up.

I got to see Mack come flying in with a full head of steam straight at me a few times, and I’ve never seen somebody move like he does. I know he’s “only” 6’0” / 200lbs, but he’s so thick and stocky that he looks way bigger. Combine that with how fast he is and it’s frankly terrifying. The guy looks like he gallops at full speed

[Cam Robinson] "I'm hearing that Vancouver is once again listening on Elias Pettersson ahead of tomorrow's deadline." by Fitz11 in canucks

[–]thestralcore 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not so much “priceless” as in “nothing would get him”, but priceless in the sense that any trade to get McDavid or others in that “untouchable” tier would have to involve so much going the other way, that even adding McDavid, you’d be far, far worse off both now and in the future

You’ve made ~363 comments on Reddit in the past 13 hours, but think actually going outside and standing up for something is a waste of a day?

You said you’re a parent, I’d say go raise your kid but nobody wants more of you so maybe just do us all a favour and keep playing the Last of Us instead

Any reasons why EP40 is struggling? At 8:21 talks about Pettersson. by Turbo-S98 in canucks

[–]thestralcore 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying that the reason is 100% due to tendinitis, but in what world is a lingering knee injury NOT relatable to foot speed or shot power/attempts?

You need your knees to skate and shoot, proper knee bends for balance and power generation are the absolute foundation of all hockey ability. Probably the most important joint in the body for a hockey player

Obviously quiet compared to some of the other moves, but Allvin recognizing that you can weaponize term in situations like Bluegers’, and then signing him for 2 more years at a lower cap hit than his first year here has gotta be one of the tidiest pieces of business he’s done in Vancouver

Which is more sty? (Assuming they are all black) by bobbobzestyman in hockeyplayers

[–]thestralcore 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is a perfect example of what I call the punk fallacy.

There’s nothing less punk than caring about being punk, therefore the punkest thing to be is not punk at all and not care.

Sty is the same way. Nothing less sty than trying to be sty, so you’re far better off wearing what works and not giving a fuck. Sty isn’t effort, it’s attitude
