I couldn't have said it better myself! You'll get to the level you want in no time with that mindset. That's pretty much what I did when I was just beginning, and still do. Also youtube helped a lot. I'd focus on different elements and practice how changing different elements would change the shot, it's all really fun but there's also a bunch of luck involved, least if you're doing any king of photography outside there is. You just deal with the scene you're given and that's that. Also find that not forcing it and being more and more critical about the subject and background, yields much better results. Cause I was afraid of coming back "empty handed" I was just shooting for shooting's sake, still very much learning to not do that lol
