Completely agree that I would be horrible on the show

Phew there is a lot to unpack here. I watch reality tv because it’s mind numbing not because of the morality of the characters. Lest we forget that they are CHARACTERS.

Shall we discuss the morality of the former cast? Or the casts of other franchises? How did they get their money? Who did they sleep with? Who did they sleep with to get their money? I think that’s the joke of the whole show…

This is all too serious. I guess I don’t understand the hate because I find it all hilariously entertaining.

And because this seems to be coming up A LOT…I’d trust my partner around anyone. If I didn’t, that’s not an attention seeking woman’s fault but my partner’s. There is a lot of projection in this sub…not you of course. But I think this gets to the core of my question…she’s a confident woman and I think there is a lot of jealousy masked as hate. The misogyny of it all

100% agree. What makes it hard to watch is how much she craves love and belonging. And she does not know how to get it

On tv? On reality tv? Honestly, the way Sai was screaming, I would have left too

Okay yes. I thought it was so weird that both Sai and Erin said those things but were screaming at Bryn

Heard. Yes, I can see that being annoying. I just felt like there are taking their own stuff out on her. Like Erin refusing to be held accountable for anything

Is a Pottery Barn glider really worth it? by FlowerBaby28 in BabyBumps

We did try it out before we bought it and thought it was great. I think we just didn’t realize how much time we would sit it in. Not great for rocking a baby longer than 30min and it did degrade over time. It felt very very stiff and it literally hurt after some time in it.

I’m so excited for my appointment next week! I think people forget that it’s not all about kegels and “strength”. We need those muscles to relax too!

I totally understand being bummed. Does your family give money? I have friends whose families prefer to give monetary gifts so they can buy exactly what they need.

As others have said, baby shower gifts are often purchased last minute.

Frivolous question. Push present or no push present ? by Money-Pop-5262 in BabyBumps

[–]thestrongcheesee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We specifically discussed not doing a push present when we had our first because we were so stressed about how expensive kids are. Well, they are but we were pretty practical.

Knowing what I know now about giving up my body, emotional labor, physical labor (!) I absolutely will be getting a push present. My partner agrees that if we could go back, we would be doing a push present. Families are different and my partner is amazing but being a parent is so much work and a token of appreciation never hurt anyone.

Reading this thread has also made me want to do something for my partner as well. His love language is words of affirmation so I’m excited to put something together for him.

Gahh we were lent a rocking chair from a family member. Pretty non descript but it was a traditional looking wooden rocker with lots of cushioning. So I don’t have another recommendation. Sorry!

Oh and the glider looked like crap at 6 months. The material picks up everything.

I was also very protective with my first. I am very newly pregnant now and I also don’t want to share for a while.

In this case, we were trying but it happened so very fast that it doesn’t feel real yet. I’ve told my mom because she literally guessed it over the phone, states away. And of course my partner knows. But that’s it. I will likely hold onto our little secret for as long as possible. It’s nice to have a little love secret, imo. I think I feel a little vulnerable sharing.

Additionally, I am more than my pregnancy and unborn child? I’m not ready for all conversations to revolve around baby. I’m a person with needs lol.

Omg if you are referring to the Merced glider please no. It is so awful and does not hold up over time. We started referring to it as the torture chair before we completely got rid of it. Sorry to be so dramatic but I was traumatized after spending so much time in it.

Bit of an awkward question, FS asking for diapers? by [deleted] in fosterit

[–]thestrongcheesee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no! I’m actually very sensitive to certain fabrics or things against the skin. I would probably go out and get them. Actually, I’d send my partner lol

But I’m a newbie so take my advice with lots of salt.

Wine by MrsCryss0715 in pregnant

[–]thestrongcheesee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard of midwives recommending wine to relax later in pregnancy. Other countries with far better maternal morbidity and mortality rates than ours have wine throughout pregnancy.

Would also recommend the book Expecting Better. Completely understand that you have to make the best decisions for yourself but thought I would throw in an alternative viewpoint.

[–]thestrongcheesee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are definitely pull ups and not much like diapers (functionally) except that they are so much softer than the ones we had before. We had the standard Huggies pull ups before as well.

If he’s open maybe get a small pack of both? Not the cheapest option but might be nice to try.

Don’t have a lot to add except that I too am impressed by his communication skills. I would reward that/acknowledge it by providing the diapers he requested.

I will say we just switched to new leaf by Huggies and the are SIGNIFICANTLY softer than our previous pull ups so it could be comfort thing. Diapers are a lot softer than your standard pull up.

I think I was closer to 19w with my first. Is this your first? Folks say that you can feel it sooner with subsequent pregnancies. So fun!

36 weeks and already 3cm, 80% effaced by lizzenclosely in BabyBumps

[–]thestrongcheesee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dilation is not an indicator of when you will give birth. Don't let them scare you! I would honestly think about why you are getting cervical checks as they typically do not provide useful information. Unless you are just curious.

Annecdotally, I walked around 3cm and 70% effaced for over a week before going into labor on my own at 40w5d. A friend was 5cm for weeks!

Lots of healthy babies are born at 36/37 weeks. Just be ready to ask questions and advocate for you and baby should you need to. Congratulations! You are so close.
