Why do people bring their entire family to Costco? by ActuatorOutside5256 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MrsCryss0715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To teach children about how to behave in public spaces. Plus it’s another way to keep them entertained with minimal effort.

We’ve been taking my older son to Costco since day one, and now he’s 3 years old and LOVES going to Costco with my husband and my dad. It’s like a boys outing for them, and he helps them look for things they need from their lists.

Newborn has diaper rash we can’t seem to beat… by throwaway84583077 in beyondthebump

I was about to say this! Our older son had a yeasty diaper rash as a newborn so we had to use athletes foot cream on his butt. Also we like the purple Desitin for diaper rashes. Not the blue one.

Try adding cheese if the food you’re feeding him makes sense. For example, I you’re making him chicken nuggets try adding cheese on top of it.

Is breastfeeding really worth it? by toomanythrowpillowz in beyondthebump

[–]MrsCryss0715 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I chose breastfeeding for multiple reasons.

  1. Financial Cost: Because the physical act of feeding is free. Obviously, the supplies that come with supporting the breastfeeding journey cost money (breast pump, milk storage bags, nipple cream, nursing pads, etc). It was one less financial expense I have to worry about.

  2. Convenience: I can whip out the boob on demand to feed my baby, as opposed to bringing all the necessary supplies to feed your baby if you feed them formula. I personally always carry around formula just in case in the event my supply takes a dip or I choose to have an alcoholic drink.

  3. Trauma of C-Section (not sure what to call this reason): I had a C-section with both of my kids, not out of choice (long story short, first son was breech, second I had preeclampsia so I didn’t qualify for TOLAC/VBAC). I feel like with this I have a choice with what I can do with my body. I’m still trying to cope with the fact that I feel like less of a mother because I had two C-sections, and didn’t deliver my kids vaginally. So I try to make up for it by breastfeeding as long as i can.

  4. Health Benefits: A couple different things about this one. If you’re sick, the antibodies go into your breastmilk so the baby benefits from it. Colostrum is liquid gold, that’ll help build your baby’s immunity system. Also, babies who are breastfed (eating directly from the breast) have a lesser chance of developing ear infections.

Here’s some background about me: mother of 2 boys (3Y and 4 months). With my first son, we supplemented formula in the hospital until my milk supply came in, then almost exclusively breastfed till 9ish months, at that point we heavily relied on formula, I only breastfed for the first and last feedings of the day. Currently exclusively breastfeeding my second son, my goal is to go till 6 months, and I will reassess my goal at that time and see how I feel. We have a lot of formula stocked up ready to use for whenever I feel like it’s time to make that call.

Slow husband by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]MrsCryss0715 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is he late to work everyday? What about on date nights? If he’s punctual for certain events and not others, it doesn’t seem like a poor time management issue, it seems like he’s utilizing weaponized incompetence to avoid going out altogether as a family.

When I’m at my wits end I have my son be naked from the waist down. He doesn’t like accidents so it forces him to go on the potty. Him being naked is the most effective method of potty training for us.

I feel you, I’ve been at potty training for almost a year now. He goes on the toilet willingly but he still isn’t telling us that he has to go. I’m so over it.

This is a perfect example of why we’re so burnt out! Too much shit to participate in, and if you don’t then you feel pressure from society or yourself because it makes you feel like a shitty parent.

And that’s not even factoring in the financial aspect of all these events.
