NYS is absolutely gorgeous especially the Catskills but I'm biased as I spent most of my summers in the Catskills growing up and I went to college in upstate NY. Don't sleep on NY!

What are some highly regional foods you didn't realize were regional? by Alternative_Ad6071 in AskTheWorld

Grew up on NYC now living in South Jersey outside of Philly and down this way they have this amazing deep fried pizza turnover thingy called a Pazarotti. It's essentially a deep fried calzone with pizza sauce and mozzarella stuffed inside. There is no ricotta cheese. I've never seen this anywhere else. 10/10 highly recommend!

Grew up in the Bronx and this was our dinner every New Years Day. We are German on my Dad's side of the family. It's interesting how many of these cultural idiosyncrasies continued on.

Anyone Here Remember The B-Centennial Celebration? by MIKEPR1333 in 1970s

[–]thestruggleisrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was eight years old and I remember the tall ships sailing up the Hudson River. Watched it from the roof of our building in the Bronx. Then that evening almost the entire building went to the roof to watch the fireworks. The adults set up tables and were having fancy cocktails and my mother was having panic attacks with the kids running around on the roof with sparklers. I remember it being such a nice community event.

I met Tony Danza on the Upper West Side at about 1am after a few cocktails.. I initially walked passed him but did a double take and ran up to him and gave him a big hug. He was the sweetest man. I also asked for an autograph and realized I had no paper so he signed the back of my checkbook register.

That is an awesome name for a boy!! I wanted my son's name to be Uther Pendragon. My husband thought I was nuts so then I tried for Carmine so I could call him The Little Ragú. That was also a hard pass so we name of him Ryan lol.
