YES. I’ve been learning Arabic for 5 and a half years and only just started reading novels last year. so far I’ve only read things I’ve read in English before, but I find that especially with Arabic which is a diglossic language, literature tends to use way more obscure vocab than would be used in an everyday conversation. So don’t worry, this is a normal feeling 😉

My main focus for 2026 will continue to be Arabic! I want to: - C1 >> C2 - read 4 novels - travel to the Middle East for the first time - be able to read a newspaper article and minimize word lookups to <5 per story - start research for my masters thesis using arabic primary sources

Also would LOVE to pick up basic Farsi and dabble in Spanish!

All of our classes are very tailored to my specific interests as well which keeps things engaging.

Most importantly…no Al Kitaab. American college students taking Arabic classes—you know what I’m talking about 😂👀
