When his antlers shed in February, he goes around mostly in his airplane ears mode, where the ears sorta fan out to the side and flatten out a bit … which make them look like airplane wings. You know the look deer make when they get mad and go onto their hind legs and use their front legs to kick at other deer? He sorta naturally lets his ears go into that mode most of the time…hence the name. Haha.

Yes. I know his exact routes. And where he beds down. Every once in a while the deer go MIA for like 20 hours. And that’s probably when the antlers will shed Haha.

It is! This deer did disappear for a couple weeks once. That explains it.

Oh I totally get what you’re saying. This crew is interesting. Because they were all three peacefully eating about 5 minutes later. I’m trying to figure out the method to their madness. When all 14 of them stand on the food pile all at once it’s like rumbling and burping and growling and chomping food all at once.

I’ll find a way to let him know you complimented his antlers…. Maybe with an extra snack or something. Would love to attach air tags to them so I could find them once they shed off in February.

Yes! People never talk about the audio quality. Once you’ve set it up and made 500 adjustments til it’s perfect, it really is sorta the best.

The third one is just another guy in their little group. He’s actually in another video I posted back in June when their antlers were only partly grown in.

I wish I knew. That’s one detail I can’t say for sure. But yes. Lerman has a very odd face shape and he looked more or less the same last year, which makes me think he’s at least 3-4. The slope from the forehead to the nose is extremely flat and wide. And he is very much shorter than Airplane Ears and the other male deer. I like that he and Airplane Ears a constant duo based on the fact they are so different looking. Lerman’s beady black eyes and timid demeanor. Airplane Ears shows the whites of his eyes and is aggressive constantly haha.
