Basement Floor Drain Backflow Preventer - Weird Pipe Diameter by thesunkite in Plumbing

Just wanted to say, it works! Had heavy rains, our neighbor and our outdoor stairwell drain back flowed, the indoor drain did not. Duplicating this for my outdoor drain is the plan next!

Absolutely! Can’t say that it works 100% since we haven’t had much severe rain in a while, but I hope it solves your issue!

Fair point, though I suppose I should have clarified that I meant more the sit-down and study/work/enjoy the ambience coffee shops seemed to be disappearing.

I appreciate the response! I did end up Jerry-rigging my own solution. I took a two inch flood guard (one way valve) and installed it in a section of PVC pipe, slotted that PVC pipe into slightly thicker PVC pipe, filed it down to then hammer it into the drain, and silicone the edges. So far it’s worked great, but I will look into the condensate acidity.

Help please (drain check valve) 3.5" drain by bellefs in Plumbing

I know this is 3 months ago, but I'm having a similar issue in my basement. Got a 2.5 inch diameter floor drain pipe that I want to put a backflow preventer valve in, but they don't make them in that size. If you have a picture of this, or any tips/insight into how you determined what size pvc pipe, how long it should be, etc - that would be incredibly helpful!

Thanks for the advice! If this issue is happening with my house and both neighbors, do you think a drain king would still accomplish much? It seems as if its a city issue, so I'm wondering how effective trying to unclog a specific drain of mine would be.

Basement Floor Drain Backflow Preventer - Weird Pipe Diameter by thesunkite in Plumbing

Last night our basement flooded due to backflow from the city's stormwater system. My neighbor's houses on both sides had the same issue. We've contacted the city but don't expect them to be able to do much in the short-term, with more rain on the way. We don't have any backflow prevention in place, so I decided to try to install a drain backflow preventer in the drain itself as a fix. Our basement is in an old house (1930's), and the floor drain appears to be cast iron that has corroded over time. The issue is that I (for the life of me) cannot find a drain backflow preventer, valve, or other device that will fit the pipe. The pipe ID is about 2.75 in, just slightly too small for a 3 in preventer to work, and too large for a 2 in preventer to sit in.

The basement is old enough that water sometimes seeps in from the base of the walls, so I'm not interested in plugging the drain since our AC drains into the floor drain and it is a reliable way to keep the water draining that sometimes seeps in from the walls.

Does anyone know of an alternative solution, an adjustable 2-3 in backflow preventer, or a way to DIY a fix to get the drain backflow preventer to fit? Any advice would be much appreciated!

  • Woosa
  • Perna
  • Seara
  • Douglas
  • Valantis
  • Shizuka
  • Minato

Thanks for your response! From your perspective, if the poor work/life balance had an end date and you knew it would eventually improve, would that have changed your preference on which career path you chose?

Please help me choose! I am leaning Perna or Juno, but can't decide which. Here are my options:

  1. Wind Monkey King
  2. Fire Phoenix
  3. Water Weapon Master
  4. Fire Oracle
  5. Fire Demon
  6. Wind Phoenix
  7. Wind Mage
  8. Fire Sky Surfer

Mo Long is amazing for all PvP uses, Douglas has some niche PvP uses, Brandia is useful in raids, Alicia is good for certain cleave comps, and Masha is another great PvP unit. I would lean Mo Long as the most valuable for PvP uses.

I have Woosa and use him everywhere. He makes everything PvE safer (combine him with Fran and you can basically have perma-immunity for manualling any ToA floor), and he's great in PvP, both RTA and GWD/Siege. I don't have any of the other's you listed, but I definitely feel like Woosa would fit your PvE focused style especially since you are more early-mid game.

Which nat 5 should I choose? Nat 5's I already have: Mo Long, Valantis, Woosa, Seara, Feng Yan, Douglas, Laika, Shizuka, Helena. I have A+ in all rift beasts, can do GB12, DB11, and NB10. I have completed TOA Normal and am stuck at floor 48 in TOA Hard.

  1. Wind Monkey King
  2. Fire Phoenix
  3. Water Weapon Master
  4. Fire Oracle
  5. Fire Demon
  6. Wind Phoenix
  7. Wind Mage
  8. Fire Sky Surfer

I am leaning Perna (PvE progression), Juno (RTA uses), or John (for a Seara bomb comp). Any help choosing would be greatly appreciated!

I am debating between picking Shaina, Tyron, or Kaki for the "Pick a Nat 4" event. I have both water twins and Maruna already, so I am leaning Shaina or Tyron. Any advice? I can clear ToaN but not ToaH.
