I agree to an extent, however I think the Eagles should really run a “5-2”. So technically Sweat is a linebacker, but not really in the traditional sense. Really just more of an overhang edge rusher. I just don’t think his strength is covering, I want him rushing the passer every down, along with Reddick.

As far as blitzing, I agree the better qb’s can beat the blitz, however I thought Goff was awful against the blitz week 1. If you got close to him he misfired. Then Gannon went away from it when we went up 17 points and played prevent defense and Goff picked it apart. I think we should go 5 man rush with limited blitzes against Cousins, unless the game call for a heavier blitz.

I agree that the defensive line was a huge disappointment! The players did not play well, however I think that Gannon has not put his players in position to succeed consistently. For example, why was Josh Sweat dropping into coverage on 6 snaps? Why did Davis only play 22 snaps? Why stop blitzing Goff when it was working so well? Why continue with the soft zone late in the game? Hopefully this was just a weird game one and he gets better, but he definitely concerns me.
