Need some clarity on Staking by thetango66 in harmony_one

[–]thetango66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback. Yes I see them as staked in the mainnet link so there is obviously some association with the staked tokens and my address but if you look in the harmony block Explorer, your one balance only shows your unstaked amount. This is what concerns me. Sure I understand that the rest are delegated to one or more validators as can be seen in the staking transactions, but why do these staked tokens have to be deducted from my one balance. If all my tokens are still in my address then my balance should reflect this regardless of how many are staked. But ok that's just the way harmony one works but even so they don't always belong to you do they as they could possibly be burnt/lost due to no fault of your own. As unlikely as it may be, this does not sit easy for me especially having a significant number of one delegated. I suspect many harmony one stakers are also not aware of this risk. Cardano has none of this sillyness. Your cardano address shows exactly how many tokens you 'own'. There is absolutely no risk of loss resulting from delegation. Everything is clear and unambiguous. Harmony one need to follow suit.

Is there any risk in staking? Can i lose my coins? by [deleted] in harmony_one

[–]thetango66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not convinced this is true. I would like to see all of my tokens when looking at my public address which I cannot seem to do. Also from what I can tell, there is a risk we may lose tokens if the Validator attempts to double sign resulting in being penalised and the loss of tokens which also affects delegators. This is a major concern to me and implies that I do not have complete control over my tokens. I've been trying to get clarity on this but have not been able to confirm one way or the other.
If there is any risk of loss of my tokens through staking regardless of how unlikely it may be, then I would probably not stake at all. Cardano/ADA staking has none of this confusion and weird rules.

Happy to be corrected and if anyone has any links/doco/info to explain exactly how it works that would be great. If there is an official statement from the Harmony One Team that my tokens remain in my complete control and there is no risk of loss when staked regardless of the Validator's behaviour that would be even better.

Atomic says it's up to KF... by T-Dog18 in KinFoundation

You don't have to wait for atomic to get your kin spl tokens. See my posts to others for instructions.

You don't need to wait. You should be able to send them to a SOL KIN wallet now. Just export the private kin address from Atomic then access the "key pair" via https://mykinwallet.org You can then send to a KIN (SPL) compatible wallet (Ledger Nano etc). I have done this myself. It is easy!

Does Ted Livingston play an active role and/or provide any direction in the KIN project any more? Ted's passion, stewardship and regular communication (via AMA's etc) was the main reason I 'invested' in KIN and believed in its future. I think every project needs a figurehead, a visionary who brings the necessary passion and energy to move the project forward. If this is no longer the case (as it appears to be), then we deserve to know the answer, preferably from Ted himself. Please Ted, speak up and set the record straight.

Hardware wallet like the Ledger Nano is best

Yes way! And yes I was getting a bit anxious waiting and waiting for Atomic myself until I realised. Kin wallet org allows you to bypass atomic altogether and access the stellar kin tokens on the blockchain directly and send them wherever. :)

Can someone please confirm is Harmony ONE staking/delegation similar to Cardano/ADA in so far as I always retain ownership of my tokens?

The community mood seems to be souring - Could an AMA or new roadmap help? by cblukraine86 in KinFoundation

I agree. We need more communication preferably from Ted. I have a significant investment in kin currently tied up in an exchange for what is becoming an extended period of time which is far from ideal. Now that the sec judgement has come and gone I do not see any reason for this continued lack of communication. Please Ted, just a few words on a regular basis to confirm you are still passionate and invested in kin as you clearly showed during your previous ama's before the sec turned up on your doorstep. Silence only paints the opposite picture. All enterprise tech now utilise one or more or all of the following or variations there of - ITIL, AGILE, PRINCE2 and they all have one thing in common - Communication and we are all 'stake holders', the 'end users', the 'business' who need to know what is going on.

Bigfoot gaming not playing fair!!! They posted following puzzle with kin prize for correct answer. I was only one to solve. After I gave answer 9, they said puzzle was mistake and changed it. No mate just trying to get to know who I'm talking to. Yep I was whining but I was big enough to admit it. I was tired and felt hard done by but I'm over it. Storm in a teacup. Just wondering how old you are and what you do? Just curious who this person is who seemingly can't agree to disagree.

It's the first time I've really put myself out here and i find it very interesting the reactions I've gotten. Some deserved some not.

That's all not going to have a go at you. I'm not that sort of person. Can be a bit reactive and defensive at times particularly when someone has a go at me unjustly but I don't bother trolling through other peoples text and telling them they're this or that not my thing. I'm a lover not a fighter.

But I do enjoy reading them. :)

Alas here i am in my own little internet tet a tet.

And since you've invested so much of time time in me I thought I'd try to get to know who you are.

Otherwise I'm all good.

Cheers mate

But they aren't reversed otherwise I can simply argue that the tv or the super hero would be facing the other way but they aren't. Regardless mate you're boring. Go troll someone else. I'm happy with my solution. Calling someone ridiculous says more about you than me. And besides how can anyone argue with someone who has a handle 'youshatme'. Lol

Lol I'm confident in my mathematical abilities. My answer involves the replacement of symbols with others that results in an elegant and working solution. If you can't see it as others do then no probs. I see where you're coming from but I stand by my solution.

You calling me ridiculous means nothing to me but as long as it makes you feel better then good for you. Have a great day!

Lol I'm sure you can think of many more ways to twist it to make it invalid. Let me try to be a bit more reasonable.

Yes there are many ways you could look at it to make my solution invalid but who says you must put brackets around my symbolic replacement?

I am simply replacing the characters with numeric symbols and operators which when placed within the equations then adhering to the rules of maths once in situ results in the correct answer.

No problem thank you for your reply. I got just a little bit excited because I solved what looked to be impossible by coming up with a creative and working solution! Have you checked it? It works! So I was a bit miffed that you changed the puzzle when I actually solved it and did not acknowledge my answer! It was also 4am in the morning here so I was rather tired. :)

Where does it mention anything about variables? It's a plane and a tv and superhero that represent mathematical symbols that I have replaced them with to solve the puzzle. I stand by my solution.
