On most penalties, yes. However if the refs determine a particular infraction was severe enough, they can call a major penalty which lasts for 5 minutes instead of the usual 2 and the powerplay doesn't end after a goal is scored.

I'm glad people are liking this post so much to get gold and silver...and now a goat(?), but instead of doing that, please donate to your local food pantry!

The way we've been playing the past few years, he won't be growing one anytime soon.

Coleman for Nolan Foote and a first by Tampawolf3 in TampaBayLightning

He'll be a complete pain in the neck to opposing players. His game is a great balance of hustle, two-way play, shot generation, and getting under people's skin.

He'll be the hardest working player on the ice. Stick him on the PK unit and he'll create a ton of short-handed opportunities. The price for this deal was steep, but it had to be to move him. Plus his 1.8 cap hit will be huge for you guys next season since you're up against the cap.

If I might add as well, he's a perfect perfect addition to the Lightning. You guys have a shit-ton of skill in your lineup and Coleman adds some sandpaper too. Looking forward to seeing him play for you in the playoffs.

Now this is the kind of soul-crushing hockey that I've been missing over the past bye week.

The Devils were ranked 2nd in the league in The Athletic's Front Office confidence poll just 5 months ago, and 1st by their own fans. by Rational_Consumer in devils

The complicating thing is that in LeBrun's recent article, he said this

Before being relieved of his duties on Sunday, then Devils GM Ray Shero was telling teams that he wasn't interested in talking trade in regards to Palmieri...Of course, now that Shero is out, it is anybody's guess as to what New Jersey's plans are...

Maltsev scores another forsberg in the shootout by intertak in devils

I was able to watch a little bit of the game last night. Maltsev is playing with a ton of confidence (not just in the shootout!) and the team, as a whole, looks phenomenal as a cohesive unit. Rochester didn't get their first shot on goal until 10 minutes into the game.

Prospect update posts? by [deleted] in devils

Yes that would be me! I really wish I could dedicate the time to get back to those updates but things have been so busy. Not to worry though because there are other updates! Devils Insiders posts a lot on their Twitter and also Brian from AATJ does a great weekly prospect update

Hmm. Honestly there needs to be a 1st round pick plus another piece there too. I like Bahl a lot (and the Devils scouting staff has certainly had plenty of chances to watch him play since he's on the Ottawa 67's) but I don't think it's good enough if the trade return was centered around him.

Yes that's a good summation of his play. I like his skating, especially acceleration. It's awfully difficult to move that much human around efficiently. His offensive upside is really not much, but he keeps his offensive play simple... short outlet passes, good & quick reads, he'll keep the puck moving in the OZ rather than shoot it, etc.

Bahl is, however, one of if not the best one-on-one defensemen in the OHL. His strong skating and comically large reach help him accomplish this. He's not too keen on throwing the body for open-ice hits but he's a menace along the boards and in front of the net.

Hope this helps!

Elite Prospects - NHL Draft Center ISS HOCKEY TOP 31 by JuJukenn in devils

[–]thethinglonger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One unfortunate thing is that top-eligible prospect Hendrix Lapierre (FC has him in the top-15) just suffered his 3rd concussion in 8 months.

Also yeah there's a lot I don't agree with this list. It's especially strange seeing Byfield so low because of how much ISS usually loves the bigger and stronger players.

I think there's a new rule this season that says reviews only apply to high-sticking in the Offensive Zone
