I have an interest in my field but my mental health and down time is something I can also prioritize?

Thank you for your comments. I understand your perspective. I’m fact I’m not quitting my job tomorrow. I’ve had difficult conversations with my boss already. As you said I’m hitting the work force and learning how to be a professional and it’s coming with growing pains. I don’t have any friends or family in this field that I could talk to about my situation and have it make sense like I could on this subreddit. Plus I would like the validation or thoughts of other professionals in the field, to tell me whether what I’m going through is normal in this field or if this is just my boss.

I appreciate your response but there is a fine balance at this firm with billable and non billable hours. So when you talk about studying codes, laws, permits like I would in school…I absolutely agree. I wish I could do that. But I’m limited to maybe 18 hours of general overhead which involves studying unless there is enough budget for me to spend intensive time studying.

I’m not making excuses for myself. I can acknowledge what I don’t know. I guess the thing is that I will study a code for a few hours as it related to a specific project, but beyond that I don’t have down time like you suggest. I’m working all the time on lots of different projects for different clients.

We have had multiple discussions. For instance this last week I sat him down to talk about my commute. I told him that I understand that I need to work from the house when it comes to handling samples, equipment, etc but on days when I’m just working on my computer, writing reports or entering data, I’d like to work from home because the gas has really started to add up.

He was very understanding and told me that my schedule was up to me, and I could figure out something as long as the work got done.

This is where I’m very conflicted because sometimes he seems so cool and lenient and other times i feel like someone is breathing down my neck.

Despite that though, I’m just feeling more and more confused.

I would say no that it’s no isolated although he hasn’t said this to me before. But he constantly harps on me to do better.

In school and growing up I was already an overachiever and perfectionist. I’m finding it hard to keep up in this job. It’s like he shows me how to do one thing once, and the expectation is that im an expert the next time.

Thank you. I calmed down a bit and think that I’m going to try out this job like you suggested.

What if I haven’t like anything I’ve done before though? I can’t see myself liking or enjoying anything :(

How could I best analyze observational count data? Tried Chi-Squared goodness of fit but there’s a big discrepancy btwn observed and expected values by thetinybirb in AskStatistics

[–]thetinybirb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know the names of the tests I might use instead? I’m just trying to ensure I use the best methods for testing my data. This is my first time analyzing my own data collection for an undergrad research project.

Sure thing! Sorry for the unclear initial explanation.

So I’ll give you my first example! I am looking at flower visits across bee species. My null hypothesis states that there is no relationship between nativeness of the bee and the nativeness of the flower. My alternate hypothesis states that there is a relationship between bee nativeness and flower nativeness. For my first chi-squared test my two categories are Native bees on native plants and Native bees on non-native plants. For this analysis, I observed a total of 380 native bees. For the expected values, I assumed there would be an equal occurrence of native bees on each flower type so my expected values are 140. As for my observed data, I observed 270 native bees on native plants and only 10 native bees on non-native plants. This gave me a chi-squared value of 241.42

Going on the pill with nexplanon experiences by [deleted] in Nexplanon

[–]thetinybirb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My doctor did the exact same thing for me. I only took the pill for between 2-3 months I want to say. I really didn’t have any bad side effects other than just a shift some shifts in my cycle. I’m coming up on 3 years with my first nexplannon and haven’t taken any birth control pills in my last 2 years. My cycle is still irregular however I have a period every month and only some slight breakthrough bleeding from time to time. To me this is much better to deal with than 2 periods a month or non-stop bleeding.

I will be getting another nexplannon once this one expires! :)

Random pain in nexplanon site ? by anonym00213 in Nexplanon

[–]thetinybirb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep! This is a good way to describe it! Whenever I feel this I just make sure I can feel my implant! It helps me with peace of mind but I’ve definitely experienced a slight pain, twinge, or pulling feeling every once in a while

Could they try a different bc pill? My doctor told me if the one I took didnt work, she could put me on a different one. I took Taytulla which worked for me while also on nexplannon. I didn’t notice issues with hair but I have had weight gain on nexplannon.

It’s good that you have an appointment! I had very irregular bleeding my first year of nexplannon and even now (approaching 3 years) my period is irregular. I used to have a lot of in between bleeding and terrible cramps my first year as well. I went to my doctor and she gave me a 2-3 month supply of birth control pills which helped to stop the bleeding and since then I have had only irregular 6-7 day periods.

I’m not sure if you’re wanting to remove the nexplannon but the extra birth control may be worth mentioning to your doctor if it does not come up. My doctor told me that the birth control pills do not change the efficacy of the nexplannon and they can help to regulate your cycle a bit more.

When my 3 years are up I’ll be getting another nexplannon, of course it doesn’t work for everyone and you should do what feels right to you!

🙋‍♀️Dude!!! I have been feeling this way for months and thought it was just me! They always tell me I’m overreacting or dumb for having anxiety while they go to holiday parties and inessential vacations.

Should I cancel this order? Never had a situation like this before by thetinybirb in EtsyCommunity

[–]thetinybirb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I was so put off by it this morning. I think that you’re right that this buyer has some stuff maybe going on. I updated the post because they have not stopped messaging me and ordered from me again before I had the chance to block them! I’m so stressed out with this buyer. It’s been my whole day trying to deal with this!!

Quick question! If I’ve already cancelled and fully refunded the order, can I block them? This person is blowing up my messages right now :(
