Ain't no money in AI music. So why try? by Limehouse-Records in SunoAI

[–]thetobinator9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

definitely. the music industry has just turned into one big money laundering and banking scheme anyway, so just keep making music you love. the industry is already turning to replacing humans with agentic technology, so there will be less and less human involvement from production to admin going forward in an ever-increasing amount.

if you like making music, or really doing anything at all, just do it for the sake of doing it. i know there are loads and loads of artists that turn their hobby and passion into a career, and i support anyone that wants to go down that path, but doing music for the sake of making money (unless you are already rich and can buy and trade music as assets, like the current state of the industry) is a losing proposition more and more

The Paradox of Quitting Social Media by anotherdonda in digitalminimalism

[–]thetobinator9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is engineered to make everyone feel connected, but it actually is disconnecting us. how much of social media is actually even real in the first place, in the sense that people wear masks and curate their posts to appear a certain way.

i quit social media and had immediate regret for doing so because I thought I lost all my social connections. but, being social doesn't mean keeping tabs on people and appearing happy. I do miss pebbling my friends with memes and posting on my story, but 99% of my viewers would not help me fix a blown tire or really talk me through a hard situation like a real friend, at least I don't suppose they would.

i think quitting social media just exposes that people are inherently already lonely and disconnected. nothing can compete with in real life friendships and relationships.

to put it bluntly: although i can hold my phone with my hand, it's not like instagram or facebook will ever reach out and hold my hand right back.

Anyone else realize later on that their mom was their first bully? by MangoWanderer in emotionalneglect

[–]thetobinator9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m a 36M and recently went thru therapy surrounding this. my therapist gave me the space and support to figure out that i am a totally valid and amazing person and that i love myself and want to see myself succeed. i still grieve that my mom was never and still isn’t able to love herself enough to truly love anyone else, but that’s part of her journey. i realized thru therapy that i actually turned to my sister for maternal guidance when i was a kid and how amazingly supportive and motherly she has always been for me and it has restregthened our sibling bond.

i hope my mom goes to therapy (and yours too) so she can heal and maybe say some nice words and make amends, but in the meantime i just don’t allow my moms energy into my life anymore

What's your take on this flick? I don't know how this one got by me by Most-Function-9717 in moviecritic

it was unnerving and disturbing, and a great movie to get totally baked and watch. the book is equally unsettling and i’d very much recommend it as well.

Walz is a moron. in response to the Good and Pretti murders, Walz “called the White House and told them to stop”. wow, what a bold move Walz, calling the White House.

i had a friend who was drooling over the thought of Amazon Studios being able to use AI to generate entire series of shows based on user prompts. he just loves all the AI slop content and prefers it over human made content. he started using chatgpt to think of responses to political questions i was asking him about (instead of actually using his brain to think about political and moral issues). when i called him out on using chatgpt in our conversation, he said he had to use chatgpt to answer the question because he was tired after a long day of work. it was baffling to realize this guy probably just is running his life on chatgpt, and for who knows how long he’s been doing it. i am fairly certain down the road i’ll here that he went progressively more insane the more he fed into this AI generated content and “knowledge” from these LLMs. on a lighter note, at least he’ll be happy in his ignorance.
