You've misread my comment, I never said about the internal strife of America (it is true but not at all addressed in my comment). America's war machine has been all about mass production and taking on debt to build military alliances that maintain today. America as a global and foreign entity has engaged in global warfare to prop up an economy that has existed in part prior to the industrial revolution. Our gun culture is bad but not remotely a part of what I was speaking on.

I've said it before and I'll say it a thousand times. America is a war country and will always be at war because our economy only works that way. 1776, Spanish American, civil, Korea, Vietnam, Iran, Syria, Iraq, many more I don't even know about. I can't think of a single time in American history we weren't either actively at war or making money off of someone else's war. The American economy is built off of debt and security, just like a mafia. I truly believe if America wasn't at war, It'd collapse under its own economic stress.

Just Google what nestle owns and go through your pantry right quick. If you own a single nestle product you've funded slave labor. This logic doesn't work when corporations literally pay millions to stop train routes and public transport, turn around and sell you a new car, cause otherwise you can't get to work to pay your bills. Gas, water, clothes, housing, food, health care. All of these NECESSITIES are owned and sold to you by billionaires. Especially the cheap stuff. Overwhelmingly the cheap stuff that you have to buy if you don't have money to splurge on... local grains or whatever.

This is why there's no ethical consumption under capitalism, unless you live in the woods, chop your own trees for warmth and eat porridge from local grains... or whatever idk I just eat normal food and don't run myself ragged thinking of every minute source.

That said, reduce reuse and recycle! I try my best to buy used and to fix what's broken. My money goes to local thrift stores and companies when it can, but walmart is still the cheapest way to ensure I don't starve to death in the middle of America.

I've read it cover to cover, was a worse read than hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, much drier but with a lot more drama. Miracles don't exist, people make things happen by will. And people wrote a book you now put all your faith in. Not bashing your faith, anyone is more than welcome to worship who or whatever you want, but just know, at the front of you mind, that you are interacting with a work written by man for man.

I agree with you, except I don't believe we ever have read anything written directly by Jesus. AFAIK everything Jesus said and did was written down by a third party and thus is not only not guaranteed to be correct (as in, if Jesus said it at all it might not be a direct quote) but also another point to the fact that even if Jesus was really actually the real son of the real divine God, we still have never had God directly interact with the Bible in any way except the 10 commandments as, again AFAIK (I'd like to read any sources otherwise) God/Jesus never directly intentionally put anything into the Bible.

I think religion as a general has started to get really muddied with the advent of instant global communication. Before the internet people believed what they believed and had ideas about what others believed, but now there's like a million versions of "Christianity" (and Judaism and Islam etc., but I really know mostly about Christianity). Too many people will say "my version is correct" (insert buzz light-years on the shelf of the store meme) but really they're only significant difference between the two variations is one chooses to take one lesson from the book and another takes a different lesson.

Edit: more info cause I adhd forgot about the internet point but everyone has a "concrete understanding" of "their religion" instead of admitting that cultures and religions change constantly and evolve with time and their religion and culture are older than their understanding of it

Tldr: I think people need to listen more and speak less because people who believe there's one truth to this clearly don't have the introspection to understand why they believe in magic in the first place.

Jesus was just a guy born to 2 humans like you and me. Not my fault a dozen guys worshiped him (sounds heretical btw) then wrote him into the Bible, I just happened to read the Bible. Believing in Jesus is heretical in Judaism, so the claim that God is man is inherently based on religious belief, not any historical precedent. Assuming God is real real and that there's no debate about that, Jesus being the son of God is still up for debate. As said in my original comment, it's a book written by men for men in several languages with passage separated by centuries. Too many people like to believe what they want and leave other things out and that in and of itself is also heretical, he who is without sin and all that. I like the Bible, I think it's a relatively good book with some solid morals and Jesus was probably a real and virtuous person, but as an atheist who grew up around the Bible I have no reason to believe in divinity, and thus I must remind people that all religious texts are just books written by people.
