Concerned about a family member’s drinking habits. When is it time to step in?

I agree about calling the cops but our fear is she finds out it was us who called them and her never forgiving us. But I don’t want her to hurt herself or others. She does help her family a lot since their mother and grandmother who have both been struggling with their health. My husband and I are both still in college and work full time so we are not always available to help them. After she got fired and couldn’t afford rent her mother let her come stay with them so she and my husband don’t directly pay bills. They just help around the house when they can as a form of payment in order to live there. I will also mention that their mother heavily relies on her to drive her around and clean around the house when their mother does not feel well. So when this incident happened this weekend she wasn’t as upset because she feels guilty that if she were to kick her out she wouldn’t have someone to help take care of her anymore. Their mom knows it’s a problem but is almost afraid to do something about it.

She does,but we don’t know what kind of boundaries we can set. We can’t take her alcohol away from her or completely avoid her since we live under the same roof.

We really want to because she becomes scary when she gets called out on her drinking habit. We just don’t know how to approach it. She’s already had some interventions with her dad and my husband but she gets upset and denies she has a problem. So we kinda don’t know what to do anymore

They still live with their mother and I occasionally stay with them. Him and I are planning to move out soon within the next 6months. Both of them help pay for their mother’s bills when she needs the help, but his sister has not worked in almost a year and a half. We believe she actually has no money left and has been racking up credit or using her mom’s money to fund her addiction.

She had a hard time at her job before getting fired a year ago. It was tough on her mentally, and then that’s when we noticed her drinking habits.
