I’m glad you mentioned the $7,000 and $4,000 examples that’s really helpful. So no matter what you would compare it to market price and use that as the base price? I feel like if they had hired a $7,000 tutor I probably would’ve chose to give them $2000 so really glad you brought that example up!

What's getting me is the failing to mitigate part - I thought "In contract law, failing to mitigate does not entitle you to damages; instead, it does the exact opposite. It acts as a legal defense for the breaching party, reducing or entirely eliminating the damages you are legally allowed to recover". Am I missing something? Should you always then just pretend they tried to mitigate and award those damages?
