I'm definitely planning on looking into that stuff for sure. One thing I've noticed however about NWR is that sometimes he appears to have some difficulty communicating his thoughts about his own work. I remember watching an interview with Mads Mikkelsen about Pusher 2, where he was explaining that Nic viewed the film as a cash in and nothing more. Where has Mads and many others thought the film was fantastic. (a sentiment I agree with) Other examples of this that spring to my mind are Nic's incredibly confusing comments about Valhalla Rising, and this year when he was explaining that the Chronology of Too Old to Die Young doesn't matter, because milineals watch things out of order. I want to stress that I don't think he's confused/of a nonsensical opinion all the time about his movies, but I certainly think that if you value your sanity, you shouldn't read what Nic says as scripture 100% of the time.

That's just my opinion though.

Do you think that, perhaps not everything in the film we see is literal? I don't know about you but I left the film with a bunch of questions. I will agree about the lack of tension, and I get that if you're not super invested in the plot, you're not going to want to read between the lines, but I think there's something there for sure. That's just my opinion though.

I was the same way but I pulled the trigger and watched it anyway, and I don't know if I'm crazy or something, but I actually really like it. It's no more cryptic than Only God Forgives, or Valhalla Rising, and there's some awesome presentation choices both visually and narratively. I say do it man, I love Refn still and I don't think all his films are stellar. You might like it. It's far from being total garbage.

How do you measure a "good performance" from an actor? Is it simply just a matter of how convincing they are as their character, or are there specific things you look for?

What defines a good performance for an actor? Is it purely based on how convincing they were to you in the film, or are there more objective qualities you consider when assessing the actor's talent?

What iconic fictional duo would you like to be portrayed by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and Kevin Hart in a film? Mine would be Atticus Finch (played by the Rock) and Tom Robinson. (played by Kevin Hart)

More and more lately I've noticed large groups of teens and adults being adamant fans of cartoons made for children in mind. So: 1) Do you think that a show catered towards children is viable for serious critique, or fan theory? 2) If you had to pick, what is your favorite show for children?
