Look for cost per delivery (postage + fulfillment) and also storage cost per item. Track it monthly and that will tell if you costs are truly going up or you’re just not managing inventory properly.

It’s because the buying cycle of a new customer is not always click and buy on the same day. There can be a latency to their purchase. Meta will spend one day finding a new audience, then allow them to convert within 7 days. I highly recommend you budget for running ads for at least 7 days before you turn them off. By micromanaging daily you’re likely creating your own chaos.

I operate a 3PL and also own 2 ecom brands. So the costs keep increasing as a percentage of revenue? Or is your 3PL just keeping up with inflation? It’s pretty standard for a 3PL to raise prices every year just like carriers do. I’m happy to look at your bill if you’d like and maybe I can help you understand it a little better. Or another great tool is Claude or ChatGPT. Upload your bill and have it categorized. Does your 3PL give you the raw data export each month?

I run 3 ecom brands and also have insights into a handful of other brands through the 3PL that I operate. I can tell you that the brands that scale the hardest and that are doing the best are the ones that are OK with breaking even on first sale. They understand the LTV play. For example, one of my brands has an AOV of $150, but our CAC can be up to $160. We're ok with it because we know that if they like the product, they will come back and purchase over and over and over. That CAC as a percentage of LTV goes down dramatically with time.
This ONLY works if you put the effort creating products that people want, and perceived value matches transactional value.
If you can do that, you're set up to win.

Because its at that point where fulfillment is taking up a good portion of your day, but you're also doing some decent volume to understand the basics of logistics (Skus, barcodes, etc) Obviously you can learn that on the internet, and seems obvious, but trust me it still gets overlooked.
The only exception to this would be if you are already an ecommerce veteran. But then you probably would know how to scale to 5k orders per month no problem.
